Wishlist for a Hockey Related Social Media site?

We are tossing around ideas for a hockey related social media site/blogging platform and would love to get some feedback from my fellow Red Wings fans. This is just at the brainstorming phase but if you have any thoughts or opinions please feel free to share them. If we do this we want to develop a site that appeals to not only NHL fans but fans and players of all levels of hockey.

What exactly does a "social media site" entail? If you wanted more than just NHL fans to be interested it would be nice to have coverage of multiple levels of hockey. Probably covering Division 1 college hockey, specific higher-end Junior A leagues (USHL or NAHL), OHL, AHL, and the NHL.

As an NHL fan, I don't pay particular attention to the other leagues besides the OHL/NCAA but it is always fun to read up on the progress of your future players.

By social media site I mean a place for users to discuss and share hockey related content, vote for their favorite stories, maybe have their own blog, etc. In general a place for hockey players and fans to hang out and discuss hockey at all levels. It would probably not be a forum site like this and HF boards but more of a Digg type platform with more robust discussion options so users can do more than just vote and comment on stories but also create their own discussions and write their own blogs, add videos, pictures, and other multimedia.

I like the idea of a future watch section. I think that is a great idea. Those are the types of things we are trying to incorporate into the site.

HockeyScape.com?

Very similar to that, yes. What we would like to do is expand on that idea by not only allowing members to submit stories and write their own blogs but also utilize our own bloggers to write stories and begin discussions.
