Yzerman: Put off retirement if any doubts

Good advice. Is it just me or is this becoming more and more of a trend? The only guy I can remember of late having this issue were guys like Lindros and Deadmarsh, but those guys had serious injuries to think about..

Yzerman is right. If its taking you months to decide, chances are you still have enough gas in the tank to keep going. Selanne, Niedermayer, now Sundin and Sakic. Its getting ridiculous.

See, I'm of the opposite persuasion. If you have any doubt about playing, then you shouldn't play because yuo can't guarantee you'll give it your all. Besides, if you truly love a sport like hockey, you won't have doubts until you're ready to quit.

But you'd might as well take your time and make sure you make the right decision. Players over 35 can't really back out once they've signed on the dotted line.
