Just for thoughts. The average Detroit FCI is lower than the NHL average.

http://www.teammarketing.com/blog/index.html?article_id=39

The FCI gives a representative look at the cost of taking a family of four to a hockey game. It comprises the price of four tickets, two small draft beers, four small soft drinks, four regular-sized hot dogs, parking for one car, two game programs and two adult-sized caps.

Stanley Cup champion Detroit reported a 15 percent price increase, with its average ticket costing $46.60. The Red Wings’ FCI is still under the league average at $279.40.

Also, average beer prices!

this study is kind of weird... is this for a family of four only going to one game a year? maybe it's me and my family, but they're saying that a person has a drink and a half per game, buys one hat and one program for every two people. maybe it all evens out after you average the cost of nachos / a team jersey to all that. if that's not the case, then it seems weird to me. do all of you spend that much at each game you go to? if you're just going to one game a year, it makes sense to me.

this is my usual spending for two people at a Kings game (I go to 8-15 a year).

tickets $40 (x2 $80)

parking $10

hot dogs $6 (x2 $12)

2 large beers $9 (x2 $18)

program $2

total for 2 people at LA Kings game: $122

i guess for four people it would be $244 which is pretty close to their average $279.40 price. maybe i just think it's weird solely on the multiple programs and more than one drink per person. either way, I'd be curious to see what other people spend money on at games to see if their estimations are accurate... on the other hand, you may now be dumber for reading all of that.

I'm not too sure where that beer price at JLA came from. There is not a stand in the building nor a bar anywhere on the grounds that sells a 16oz beer for $6.00. A small (16 or 12 depending on brand) is over $7 (not exactly sure because I enjoy large) and the large (20 or 22 dep. on brand) is $8.50. Those prices have been in effect for the last two seasons. Previous to that it was $8 for large and I assume the small was priced similarly less.

Not only that but a program is $7 and JLA parking is $20. So pavyaz19's prices being similar for dogs and LA price being close to average how is JLA below average.

This is a terrible study. First of all, no one is forced to buy food or drinks at a game. Second, the typical party that attends an NHL hockey game - at least at the Joe - is not comprised of two adults and two children, which is what this study is insinuating.

If you want to look at what it costs the average fan to attend a hockey game, you should look at ticket prices, fees, and parking. Nothing else. The price of beer and hot dogs is not what deters me from going to a hockey game. If I like hockey enough, and dont have the money to spend on beer and hot dogs, then I bring my own food and sneak in a bottle of what have you and enjoy the game that way.

Don't drink beer. Was given free tickets to Wings vs Lighting in Tampa 2 yrs ago. $4.00 for the worst hotdog I have ever had. Gotta admit that the only other sporting events I've been to were in Detroit and the dogs were always good.
