PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted October 24, 2008 This guy (and a few others like Griffey) have had me brainwashed since I was a kid. Feds made this gear fly off the shelves, even though it wasnt the best quality stuff. You gotta admit, it doesn't get much cooler than THIS I remember wanting the exact pair of skates he has in the pic but they were like $400 and my mom wouldnt buy them but like a year later i bought a black pair with the neon swoosh and the all the rivets on the heal came out .. they last one season .. awesome

Once in a while I still run across someone who has converted them to roller hockey skates. As a kid I would have died for a pair of all red cooper 4 rolls. 06TJSport 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2008 Nike was the best hockey gear IMO. Nike Bauer is nice, but it isnt as good. I wish Nike had stayed with hockey. Warrior is pretty bad from what i've seen, but it's Nick's opinion. BTW, those old Nike helmets were the s***, I bought one from Sportchek like a month ago for 15 bucks, still great. Those were Bauer helmets

Oh god... most of the Nike stuff was BRUTAL! Especially in their early days (late 90s). Gloves were uncomfortable, skates were far too stiff, wood blades had no feel... some of their stuff got a lot better (Flexlite skates) and some got worse (Quest skates, helmets). On the business side of things, Nike helped screw up the market. Most products (especially successful ones) would have a 3, 4, maybe even 5-year run before the manufacturer would make changes. Nowadays, products are in the line for 2 years max, and usually only 1 year. So much product has been sold on closeout. In trying to make money, these companies can't make any money!
