Joey Mac

Joey MacDonald is another example of guys in our system who just need the chance to show what they can do.

Joey Mac

EDIT: im not saying it was a bad move for us. just that our system is deep and even guys way down the line can prove useful on many other NHL teams.

Yeah.. I definitely remember some not so great performances when he was here.. But its true really.. When you have as many great players in your system as we do theres just no way to keep them all and have them all play to their potential and I would much rather have a surplus of talent that we dont have enough room for than be a team that has the opposite..

Yeah, Joey Mac never really shone when he was called up. At least he's getting some play with the Isles while Dipietro is out yet again.

He's playing OK for the Isles right now, but he'll still never be anything better than a career backup - at this point and time I would ride Jimmy Howard full time over Joey Mac - nothing against him, he's serviceable, but lets not get ahead of ourselves just because we've let up as many goals as we have (a good part of which is our D's fault - not our goalies) all and all, I'd gladly take what we have - keep in mind also, the West is a more offensive packed conference

Ozzie will get back on track and has looked stellar his last 2 starts (minus one bad hop from center ice) and got hosed on the loss to Vancouver

All and all, and this EXACT point in time:

Osgood>Conklin>Howard>MacDonald

I'll take what we have.

You need to realize that some people do not really shine as players until they are with certain organizations. Was getting rid of Joey Mac a bad thing? Possibly, it's wait too early to tell. A good month and a half is not how you judge your goalies. He is a good goalie I always thought. But he is just playing well. In no way was I think it was a bad move, especially seeing our goalie prospect list as of now.

Were the Bruins even dumber for letting him go this past year? Why did two teams miss his potential? He was not needed and he's finally get a shot to play consistently and he's shining. Good for him!

Everyone talking down to Joey like he hasnt done anything. Making the Islanders respectable, I was so excited when I met him a couple years ago. I'm so happy to see him doing so well, and wish him luck the rest of his career. He's a great guy, from a small town, getting a shot and showing he can do it. Average or not, Joey is performing for his team when they need him, nothing more you ask from the guy. That a boy Joey!

mcdonald sucked for the wings whenever he got a chance. wings will ride out ozzy til the end of the year and hopefully give howard a shot next year. he's still a hell of a goalie. and to the surprise of many, conklin has been really good this year...

I highly doubt too many people are surprised to see Conklin playing well in Detroit, considering he was excellent for the Penguins last year when Fleury went down.

If I remember correctly, MacDonald was with the team because they were resting Haskek. Once the season was ending, they tried to place him on waivers to go to GR, but he was picked up. It was not like they were trying to give him, he was just out of options.

I heartily disagree with your assessment. MacDonald was certainly given a chance, and he did a very bad job.

And as soon as DiPietro gets healthy, he will be riding the pine again. He's not stirring up any goalie controversy there, since DiPietro has a contract that makes him "Goalie For Life".

He's not saying he regrets losing Joey Mac... He's saying that the bottom tier guys from our system often end up excelling on different teams, probably due to the pressure of being on a high end team like Detroit.

Quincey and Avery are two other examples.

While I can almost give you Quincey, please tell me what Sean Avery is doing in Dallas to excel that Dallas team!??!!!

I'll even point out that Dallas was a high end team like Detroit before THIS YEAR.

WTF Happened YO????

Some players do not adjust to new environments like others do.

He really did excel on the Rangers though.
