chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 I really think the Wings are just going to carry on with a top 4 of Stuart, Ericsson, Kronwall, and Lidstrom. Because Lidstrom is irreplaceable, it might be a good idea to bulk up in terms of our 2-5 Dmen. Although Lidstrom was taken in the 3rd round, its pretty unlikely that that sort of pick is going to be replicated. We'd likely have to go after Hedman if we wanted another Lidstrom, and the Wings dont have the assets to trade for that pick. As for grinders, you can find some pretty good ones on the free market. But we could stand to draft another Abdelkader for a future grind line, yeah. Ericsson is a couple of years away from being a top 4 forward on the best team in the league considering he has only 11 games of NHL experience... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Guest nutz2u Report post Posted December 13, 2008 Thats exactly what I was thinking. Sounds like you'd like Zack Kassian too. Some say hes the next Milan Lucic. If the Wings need to clear cap space to re-sign guys like Franzen, Hudler, and Hank, then Id ship off Filppula and our late first to a team like Florida for their 1st, which would likely be about 8-12th overall. That should be high enough to land Kassian. The kids already 6'3, 205. Florida doesn't have a first round pick this year it went to Nashville for Vokoun. Those guys suck, we need Canadians... Hey chrisdetroit, not sure who pissed in your cornflakes but it wasn't me. I never said that any of those players sucked so stop putting words in my mouth. Canadians play a different style of game then the guys you mentioned and adding that to our team would be a big plus. Try to find yourself a big burly swedish power forward to crash an bang and score and fight... its never going to happen, not because they suck but because they play a different style. The name of the thread was "What do the Wings need?" and I think my answer would be exactly what would fit the bill... who wouldn't want a Lucic or a Getzlaf added to this roster?
