TheSupafly 50 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 Hi Supafly, I didn't mean to offend, I was only making fun in reference to the anger Sharks fans displayed toward his playoff performance a few years ago. As I recall there were a lot of people cursing his NTC but 12 months ago because he was struggling a little this time last year. Doesn't mean much though, some Detroit fans were saying the same thing about Datsyuk a few years ago. Thanks for contributing to LGW. I love seeing good posters that are fans of other teams. I never took offense. I have extremely thick skin that has served me quite well over the years. I still maintain that you haven't seen much Sharks playoff hockey...not that I blame you, you have no reason to. Yeah he had a down year by his standards last year, but that was during the regular season. He has always been one of our top playoff performers. Starting with the 01-02 Playoffs, he has 51pts in 64 playoff games. ~.80 pts per game. Nothing Earth shattering, but very respectable production. In contrast, over the same period of time his regular season stats are 407pts in 511 games. Again ~.80 pts per game. There is no drop of in production in the playoffs, and I think everyone would agree that the playoffs have less scoring. (though I don't have any statistics on that) Marleau also has 3 playoff hat tricks. Thanks for the welcome wishes! I like it here and plan on being around a while, so everyone better get used to a loose shark running around aimlessly. Hopefully I can offer a view that comes from a different perspective than what you all are used to.

Marleau was good this past postseason, not magnificent but good. I watched all but one game. The season before he was pretty average, seriously. I can't remember how many games I watched. I've never been one to list my credentials as a hockey fan though. Seems a little silly to me. Before that, I don't remember much to be honest. Apparently, 12 months ago many Sharks fans didn't either.
TheSupafly 50 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 Yeah I heard the same stuff from other Sharks fans, but really they were in the minority. That one slow season doesn't erase his strong career with the Sharks. FWIW, I was not among his dissenters. I've always loved having him on the Sharks. I hope he ends his career with the Sharks, which would be an amazing feat in itself...staying with one team for an entire career in the salary cap era.
