smosier 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 I just want to see what people think about the Ovechkin celebration when he scored his 50th? I feel it's good for the nhl every so often to have things that are "flashy" happen. Why not? It's a game based on skill and in the past 10-20 years stickhandling and showmanship has because the forfront of youth development. You watch kids pick the puck up and do things nowadays, that would have never happened in the past. I compare the 50 goal celebration to Marek Malik's through the legs shootout goal for the Rangers a couple years back. Now every kid I coach can do the "Malik" move. And when I let my kids have a fun shootout in practice, they are trying to do the stuff from the skills competition.... it's good for the sport, and kids are feeling more connected to the sport because of it. There is nothing wrong with that.
