Cleary injured in practice?

Why couldn't Kronner have done more of this in the regular season? To the opposing team, mind you...

Ah well, he must be ready to go for playoffs!!! Get well soon, Cleary!

Dude, even though Kronner had a poor start to the season he finshed unbelieveably strong.

51 Points for Nick Jr. That is one more then Chara who supposedly in the running for a Norris, and in the company of Shea Weber, Brian Campbell, Sheldon Souray.

Dennis Widemen, Chris Pronger, Dion Phaneuf, and Rob Blake are all behind him...

If he was overly physical he might have injured himself, and then where would he and we be?

Now is the time to get physical so I wouldn't complain about his season.

11th overall in Defense scoring. That is worth more then highlight hits.

Leino still most likely won't come up unless three people go out...

How so?

As it stands now, if Cleary and Draper can't play in Game 1, the Wings have 11 forwards.

Meech is not a good enough forward to play up front in the playoffs, not by any stretch of the imagination.

If Cleary is out for Game 1 expect Leino or someone else to get a call-up.

If Cleary can't play Game 1 here are the lines I'd like to see:

Holmstrom-Datsyuk-Hossa

Franzen-Zetterberg-Hudler

Samuelsson-Filppula-Leino

Kopecky-Helm-Maltby

I didn't put Sammy on the second line because that line doesn't need another shooter- Zetterberg needs to shoot and stop trying to be the Swedish Datsyuk. There are few players on this team I'd rather shooting than Zetterberg.

Did you really just compare Kronners to Chara...? Kronners might be better than Chara and those guys listed on the offensive side, but defensively it isn't even close between most of the guys you mentioned and Kronners.

I do not want to see Franzen-Zetterberg-Sammy together. Please no! Franzen is a finisher....Sammy is a fini...err shooter, and Zetterberg is a mix of a finisher and playmaker.

I'd much rather see Hudler with Zetterberg and Franzen.

Keep Downey off the ice!! Nick Jr made the hit, but we all know it was Downey who injured him.....

I disagree.

Kopecky has more upside and is better offensivly.. So he fits the 3rd line role better then what Malts would.. But when it comes to being a 4th liner player. Maltby is better.

You look at the Winter Classic, Who sat out? It was Kopecky. Odds are, He'll be splitting it with Drapes/Helm on the 3rd throughout the game

Babcock said to Pierre on Sunday, That Playoff season is the real hockey season for guys like Drapes and Malts..

-

That might be me trying to justify why i dont want Kopecky playing in the playoffs over Maltby though.

Whatever works. You just said it for me too. The fourth line with Draper, Maltby and Helm OR Leino would definitely be an energy line, however you put those four together.

They rather have Leino getting top minutes in GR. Makes sense because they have a shot at the championship.

Wish this was still the case!

It will be tough for GR to get out of the first round without Ericsson, Helm, and now maybe Leino. Ryan Oulahen (GR's top defensive forward who is one of the best in the entire AHL on the PK) is out for the rest of the season with a dislocated hip. Evan McGrath, also one of the top scorers for GR, recently found out that he has a broken bone in his shoulder. Out 4-6 weeks.

GR lost 3 times in its final 10 days of the regular season to Hamilton...the same team they are meeting in round 1 of the playoffs. If they find a way to win without their key players, they will all deserve to play with the Wings!

Wow. I have had the worst week ever and now my favorite player is injured (Cleary, not Draper :)).... maybe I should root for Columbus at this point.

..........

In very internet-lingo terms... GTFO. :P^_^

I said this in another thread:

Wings have extremely solid depth, because we have players like Leino, Helm and Abby all ready to rock-n-roll and step up when an injury occurs. Thing is, I didn't think there would be injuries after game 82 and before the first game of the playoffs.

I love Kronwall's enthusiasm, I really do. But damn it Nik! Wait for the Jackets before crushing players :D

Dan Cleary's touch-and-go for Red Wings' opener vs. Blue Jackets

Categories: Griffins

The Macomb Daily's Bruce MacLeod reports that Red Wings forward Dan Cleary suffered an injury which may keep him out of Thursday's series-opener vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets during Tuesday's practice:

April 14, RedWingsCorner: Dan Cleary, who left today's practice after a friendly-fire check by Niklas Kronwall, might be well enough to play in Thursday's Game 1 against the Columbus Blue Jackets, according to general manager Ken Holland.

Teams don't divulge injury information especially during the post-season. But Holland said that Cleary is "day-to-day". Cleary could skate in Wednesday's practice. His status for Game 1 will be determined after Thursday's morning skate.

"It's a minor, minor injury," said Holland. "There's a chance he could be in Thursday."

The Detroit Free Press's George Sipple reports that the Wings recalled Ville Leino from the Grand Rapids Griffins for "precautionary reasons" on Tuesday.
