Mike 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2009 Why is everyone surprised that O'Hallorna made it? He is a veteran NHL referee, of course he is making it through.

There have been some verteran referees that have not made the post season the last few years. One that comes to mind is Kerry Fraser.
Turretin 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) I don't care who the refs are, I just hope they swallow their whistles and let the boys play. Interesting desire for a fan from a team playing against the Ducks. I hate when refs don't let the players decide the game, but I hope they call them consistently when dirty play comes up. There is NO way that the PIMs should be equal at the end of this series. Edited April 29, 2009 by Turretin
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted April 29, 2009 There have been some verteran referees that have not made the post season the last few years. One that comes to mind is Kerry Fraser. I used to despise Kerry Fraser. He always seemed to ref the games between the Avs and Wings back in the late 90s/early 00s and without fail, something would happen in those games. You almost knew we were going to get bulls*** calls levied against us and at least one player was going to be on the other end of a dirty hit and he'd do jack squat about it. Total assface. Hated him. Now it's O'Halloran's turn.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted April 30, 2009 Why is everyone surprised that O'Hallorna made it? He is a veteran NHL referee, of course he is making it through. Because he's a selective, biased, bulls*** ref. Every time there's a goaltender interference call against Holmstrom I turn to my girlfriend and say "I bet you O'Holloran's reffing tonight." And every single time when I check the boxscore low and behold- it's O'Holloran. He's so predictable it's pathetic. He calls goaltender interference so far outside the other refs' norm it's plain shocking that he hasn't been reprimanded. It's like he has his own little set of special O'Holloran rules. No one else calls goaltender interference so ******* liberally. A d-man checks you into his goalie? Goaltender interference. Your ass is over the crease while your skates stay out? Goaltender interference. Your stick touches the goalie? Goaltender interference. Well, those examples are only goaltender interference if you're number is 96 and O'Holloran is reffing. Vincanni 1 Report post Posted April 30, 2009 My sixth wife Halima referee when i make sexy time with wife number 3 and 4. You think these white infidels will want to take her place? If more trolls happened to have a goofy gimmick like this, I wouldn't mind them half as much.

Hossa7.4 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2009 I don't care who the refs are, I just hope they swallow their whistles and let the boys play. really? are you sure? this would be to the detriment of the Wings, especially against the Sucks. I've never understood why people feel there should be two sets of rules in hockey, one for the playoffs and one for the regular season. calling true penalties will benefit the more skilled team which is Detroit. I've never understood why people feel there should be two sets of rules in hockey, one for the playoffs and one for the regular season. calling true penalties will benefit the more skilled team which is Detroit. It may or may not be to the detriment of the Wings (I keep hearing about how tough our guys are and that they can handle themselves just fine annd that they can dish it out with the best of them), but it would be for the betterment of the game. Excessive powerplays make for a boring hockey game. I don't want to see borderline high hits called elbowing on the Ducks, nor do I want to see borderline interference by Homer called. If there's any doubt, don't call the penalty. Let the boys play their games and it will be a great series to watch. Prevent Holmstrom, Getzlaff and Pronger from doing what they do best and it'll be a snoozer. I don't want the game called in a way that will most benefit the Wings, I want the game called in the way that most benefits the game.

I agree with the chincy crap not being called, but the Ducks tend to get called on penalties that are legitimately called. I watched how, especially early in the Sharks series, they were obstructing the Sharks and were getting away with it, but as soon as one guy placed the stick anywhere near another player's midsection, up went the arms. Then, the Ducks have a habit of being far too aggressive and dirty and getting called for deserving penalties. There's no reason refs should swallow their whistles for stuff like that and leave it for a player to just deal with getting their head rammed into the boards, or getting elbowed to the head, or obstructed just in the name of whatever-goes hockey. Opie 308 Report post Posted April 30, 2009 That's the contribution you want to make to this discussion? Wow. Sure was, oh but look hey I just answered your question which you cleverly avoided mine, by doing something never before seen on a discussion board turning it back on me. OOH you are so clever. BTW are you going to cry if the Wings win the cup, and I don't mean tears of joy. For the past, however many months, you have done nothing but trash the team you are supposedly a fan of. Back on topic, I could give two craps who the refs are, I just want consistent calls. If in game one it is an elbow, I want it to be an elbow in game 7, if it is a cross check in the first period with 18 minutes to play I want it to be a cross check with 25 seconds left in the game, I don't give a crap who it helps or hinders, I just want consistency. BTW I do not blame the Refs for the 07 loss, I blame injury and to a much, much greater extent a horrible PP including missing multiple 5 on 3's, that is right I blame the Wings for losing in 07 to the Ducks.
