puertoricanWingsfan 5 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 This is absurd to me for two reasons: (1) Anybody watching that video can clearly see that Wisneiwski was messed up by the initial shot to the ribs. He fell to one knee and essentially stopped playing even though the puck was cycling in his zone at a critical time. (2) It's not like there isn't video of this...we have video from multiple replays, and nobody can even agree on what happened or how Holmstrom might have contributed to it. I struggle with the argument that this was a clearly malicious (and some are arguing suspendable offense) when we're looking right at it on tape and you can see he had the prior injury. Maybe if he had a concussion and Holmstrom elbowed him in the face, that would make sense. But the supposed eggregious act doesn't even match the symptoms here. A puck strike to the chest DOES. No one can deny that. But can you really argue the fact that he was injured by the puck? C'mon. He was injured by the puck no doubt. He suffered a lung contusion. He was however bleeding from his face after being elbowed in the face. Whether the elbow in the face was accidental or not doesn't matter. Players are responsible for their limbs, sticks, etc.... It was because he was coughing up blood from his lungs......from taking the puck to the chest. Not from Holmstroms elbow. At least according to this article... Contusions do not cause internal bleeding. 1. If the blood was from his lung it would have to be from a puncture or a collapse 2. He has already been cleared and left the hospital that would NEVER be the case from a puncture or a collapse. If you want I can link you a few articles that say the blood was from the elbow. *** Even if the blood wasn't from an elbow it is still a penalty. Ok well then...we'll call it even for the slash pronger gave sammy when he was on the breakaway...should have been a penalty shot. What about the 2 or 3 times osgood had the puck in his pads yet apparently the ref could SOMEHOW see that one (and not the disallowed one sitting on the goal line in the open) to let play go long enough for osgood to be knocked over.
