Vincanni 1 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Risky move cloning Hossa, but I think since we got one roling, we could do the same for the other. Great to see Darth Kader in the line-up, and its somewhat refreshing to know Raffi's getting better even if we'll probably not see him once this series. Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 I hope Abdelkader keeps his wits about him: no penalties! Our fourth line has been pretty good at playing physical but not taking any penalties for being lazy or out of position. Here's hoping the substitution doesn't affect that. Like the top six. Third line has all sorts of potential.

Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Sounds good, let's hope Datsyuk starts producing, it's been too long since he made good things happen.

thedisappearer 291 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 I like that third line, and Sammy on the fourth line, while not maximizing his potential, will create problems for Anaheim. Plus, he can swap him up to the third easily. And he'll be rested for power plays.

ehorn3 2 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Sammy is perfect for the 4th line. He's going to shoot everything, why not have two guys that can go get his shots that miss the net by 5 feet. I see sammy as the type of guy that needs to get moved to down to get some motivation to improve his game. I'm glad they took him off the power play last game. He responded with a lazer shot in the top corner later in the game. Hopefully the 4th line can play solid and with sammy on it I think it gives them a chance to put up some points. Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 (edited) The 4th line is for energy not scoring. Says who? Besides, did Kopecky create any energy? Hell no. Abdelkader will hit everything that moves, that alone is much better than anything Kopecky can do. Edited May 9, 2009 by Reds4Life
Heaton 1 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Says who? Besides, did Kopecky create any energy? Hell no. Abdelkader will hit everything that moves, that alone is much better than anything Kopecky can do. Yet strangely Kopecky led all Wings forwards in hits.
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 The 4th line is for energy not scoring. Yes, they are for energy, but to say they aren't for getting a goal? They are out there to make the best of their opportunities while also focusing on stymying the opposition. A team gets a lot of energy from a fourth line goal, hit, successful cycle. In the playoffs your third and fourth lines are expected to contribute to the goal scoring. Not necessarily at the same pace as the first line. I think I know what you meant, and that you're not making an absolute blanket statement, but I felt like responding anyway. Datsyuk needs to score.
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Says who? Besides, did Kopecky create any energy? Hell no. Abdelkader will hit everything that moves, that alone is much better than anything Kopecky can do. Kopy has been physical and responsible. I mean it's not his line getting scored against, it's guys like Pavel and Nick. Plus Kopy knows how to negate Anaheim's defensive depth.
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Yet strangely Kopecky led all Wings forwards in hits. Kopecky's hits are very soft. I have yet to see him run opposing defensemen hard. Kopy has been physical and responsible. I mean it's not his line getting scored against, it's guys like Pavel and Nick. Plus Kopy knows how to negate Anaheim's defensive depth. What does that mean? Defensively responsible players without any other skill are everywhere.

Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 What does that mean? Defensively responsible players without any other skill are everywhere. Apparently the Wings no longer have such players in their lineup now that Kopecky is injured. I just meant that Kopecky has been a good fourth liner. Not the absolute best, but good. Most of the Ducks goals are coming against our top lines which means: A, the Ducks don't have much talented depth and; B, the Wings depth is better than the Ducks. One challenge depth players tend to face is making an impact without taking a penalty. Kopy, Helm, and Malts have avoided the box quite well. I hope Abs can contribute without getting sloppy. Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Kopy knows how to negate Anaheim's defensive depth. Anaheim's Francois Beauchemin said Kopecky asked for it. "We were battling in front of the net and he asked me to go," Beauchemin said. "I'd never seen him fight before so I was quite surprised. But, we were down and I tried to change the momentum a little bit." Very crafty.
