PotbellyJoe 10 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 Hey all! What a win! So excited! Anybody in the NY/NJ area know a bar that will have the game Saturday? A friend and I want to socially enjoy the Cup Finals. I can't think of a single bar that plays hockey, let alone fills up wit local wings fans. Would love to find one. Help! betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 I don't know about a designated Wings fans meet up or anything, but man, if you go into a bar and they won't hook you up with just one of the many TVs in the place for the hockey game, that is a worthless establishment. PotbellyJoe 10 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 Well, unfortunately in NJ, I don't know many that would switch a TV from Yankees baseball for two idiots in Wings jerseys... 7:05 start for the Yankees against Cleveland. 8pm for the Wings...
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 Yeah, good luck. The only bar I've ever been to here in Jersey that would let me watch Wings games (or hockey in general) is no longer around due to some sort of tax violations (the Sagebrush Cantina in Cedar Knolls). And even then, it was probably only because I was tight with the bartender at the time. If there's a Yankees or Mets game going on (which there always seems to be), there's no shot at getting them to change. 99% of the time when I mention hockey out here, I'm met with responses of "Oh, that's still going on?" If anything, you might luck out more somewhere in NYC, but I can't think of any place specifically.
kook_10 1,705 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 I haven't been there myself, but I know Professor Thom's on 2nd Ave b/w 13th and 14th is where people go to watch Michigan games. I would imagine they might get a few Wings fans in there too. http://www.professorthoms.com/professorthoms.html My wife is 8.5 month pregnant so I probably won't head out of downtown Jersey City, but if you find yourself around here maybe I will stop on by. PotbellyJoe 10 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 Sounds like I'll be making a few phone calls. My friend is Hobo, so we kinda wanted to stay near there... The Yankees game is what is killing me. I'll post if I find anything. Thanks for the help guys!
