Vladiator 116 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Found some suite tickets on ticketbastard and was wondering if anyone knows if they are handicap accessible. My buddy uses a power scooter so regular seats aren't an option. Did the prices come down on tickets? I got through Thursday morning and they wanted $455 for one ticket in the handicap areas (which I think is completely wrong).
Lancz 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 There is an elevator that goes up and a long hallway that runs around The Joe to the different suites. Once out on the balcony there are steps for each row of seats, usually two rows. There may be an ok view from behind the seats out the window from sitting but not sure. Not all suites have a window and door like the one I was in. He may be able to pull partially into the door if it's not open. I would probably just call and ask ahead to be sure. wheelchairwing 11 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 I have never been able to procure tickets at that level (don't have the money), but I don't consider JLA to be very wheelchair or scooter friendly in general. The best bet is to call Joe Louis Arena and ask about accessible areas, ordering tickets directly from the box office. Most of the time, (and this is through my own experience of going to concerts, etc.) ordering tickets through somebody like Ticketmaster or whoever does not ensure accessibility, and most of the time people don't know what they're talking about. Good luck with your endeavor, I hope it turns out for the best. Still, we need a new arena very badly. If something like Nationwide Arena were to be built for the Red Wings, I know that I would make more of an effort to go to games if I could afford it. Hopefully things will change.
