Toronto Star.

To think of Mr. Howe at playoff time, and especially during the Stanley Cup Final, is just part of the heritage of the Club and part of being a Red Wing fan.

Gordie is one hell of a fan. I think it's Wings fans responsibility everywhere right now to let him now how much he means to us and let him know he's appreciated. If any of you guys see Gordie friday night be sure and tell him how much you appreciate what he's done for hockey, the city of Detroit, and the Red Wings

A very good idea. And I think Mr. Howe would appreciate it.

Howe doesn't freely engage in conversations as much as he did before his wife died, but he still makes time for people who want to talk – even if he makes them work for it.

"Got a minute?" a reporter asked him Saturday night.

"No, maybe in 30 minutes," Howe replied.

"Okay," the reporter said, walking way.

"Hey! I was just kidding," Howe said.

"He can still turn it on," Mark Howe said. "It's natural."
