SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted July 3, 2009 they were good last year. but with the addition of hossa and kane and teows continuing to improve they have a pretty good lineup. will they be able to take over our reign of our division Who knows... They will certainly still be as competitive as last year in all likelihood...
Snazzy 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2009 Chicago should make the playoffs, but how deep they go is yet to be seen. They have some gaping holes that they can no longer fill due lack of funds and their future is a complete cluster f***. How a team looks on paper and how well it meshes is two different things. As Wings fans, we know this all too well. I do think Tallon went too far and hurt the team more than he improved it, honestly. They were so close and now they went and did a big overhaul, that's not always a good thing... especially when they were as close as they were. I still can't wrap my head around the Kopecky signing. He's our trash... and Chicago (who is building a cup team) picked him, grossly overpaid him, and gave up Pahlsson?! That makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever. Now their going to lose Versteeg and some other key elements. Not sure how their offense has really improved.
HawksFan4Life 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2009 I don't know if you are giving Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook enough justice. I know, 2 defensemen, but they have excellent chemistry, a great pairing. Keith had an outside chance to get a Norris nomination this season, and will only get better. There is no reason to believe that we can't be capable, but also there are no guarantees in sports either
Selke13 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2009 I think you're underestimating Havlat here. Hossa is not a big upgrade over Havlat (at least in my mind). Chicago wouldn't have made it past Calgary last year had it not been for Havlat. Havlat had more points than Hossa last season. Havlat had a better +/- last than Hossa last season. Hossa is better in his own end and isnt as fragile though. I agree they're D is largely the same and their goalie is not on the same level as last year. Still should make for some great rivalry games. hossas points would have been higher except the wings were watered down with talent.
