I have always said that is one of the reasons that the NHL lags some in the USA, all the other major sports (well not baseball quite as much but still more than hockey) have close ties to the NCAA and people become fans of the players when they are in college (especially football and basketball) and that breads more excitement for when they move up to the pros. Lidstrom for life 20 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 I was very happy to see that, but I am kind of suprised its the two Boston teams playing each other, I though maybe they would want to include another part of the country in the events and considering the winter classic is on NBC I am really suprised they didn't somehow get Notre Dame involved, if there is one team NBC loves more than the Penguins its the Irish. Toronto VS Detroit followed by Michigan State VS Michigan!!!!!!! HOLY HELL THAT WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE!! Of course, Detroit just played in a Winter Classic, so good luck w/ this!
