Scotty Bowman coaching the Chicago Blackhawks?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

I have a gut feeling Scotty Bowman will be the head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks in the next year or so. His son Stan will probably convince Scotty to come out of retirement to coach the team. Joel Quinvelle isn't that great of a coach and it depends on performance on the ice in the regular season and in the playsoffs. I hope i'm wrong about this. Any thoughts about another coaching change in chicago.

I honestly don't see that happening at all. Scotty is getting up there in age and I'm not sure he wants anything to do with the commitment and time that goes into being a head coach. What else does he really gain from coaching again? He is already the greatest or second best coach in NHL history.

Besides, wouldn't it sting quite a bit when the Red Wings beat them in the playoffs?

Not a chance. Scotty turns 76 on Friday, like someone else said, he wants nothing to do with the time commitment that it takes to coach a team, the grueling travel schedule, or the day-to-day preparations. He is on as a consultant, and that's as much as he'll do for the rest of his career. He is the single greatest coach the NHL has ever seen, but he is done.

You mean, outside of Dave Lewis, of course. Right?

absolutely no way in hell... Scotty is going to be 76 (as previously mentioned) and he does not travel anymore, also, he's not even in Chicago as often as he is in Florida (as he was rarely in Detroit) - there is a reason he has a consultant role and not a GM role...

not. possible.
