dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted October 13, 2009 FYI everyone, tinyhockey seems to be affiliated with hockeystreams in some way. Take his testimonial with a grain of salt because it isn't anywhere near as perfect as he makes out. Yeah I was thinking that myself. He speaks like some kind of advertisement bot. Glubki 17 Report post Posted October 13, 2009 We had this discussion about hockeystreams a few times last season. I subscribed to their regular plan midway through the season when the NHL began cracking down on free streaming sites. I initially tried watching games on wifi through a router and had terrible results. The buffering was constant and many games were unwatchable. My signal strength from the router was always 5 bars. I switched over to my direct ethernet connection while watching games and the problem disappeared - there was still some occasional buffering but not nearly the problems I had with the routed connection. I upgraded to HD for the playoffs and was very pleased with the quality. I'll probably do the same thing this year - search for free streams early on and than pay for the last portion of the season and playoffs.
ilmickeyli 40 Report post Posted October 13, 2009 had no problems with hockeystreams, used it last playoffs and this first month (preseason and first few games i wanted). hdplus works great - no buffering issues, but you need some nice bandwidth.. i have 16/2 i think from comcast.. if your internet is slow then it streaming at i dunno 800-1200kbps takes its toll
Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted October 13, 2009 (edited) I would stay away from hockeystreams; they have some questionable business practices aside from taking profit away from the NHL. Not to mention there is the possible chance they will get shut down, they have admitted being an illegal operation and being protected by country law or lack thereof. I would say go directly to the source, it's a pretty good service and their new pause/rewind feature is nice. It's great quality that can be viewed on a connected TV and rarely has any problems. Just keep in mind that if you travel you will be blacked out for whatever local team you're near and pray that Versus/NHL Network isn't showing the game you want to watch. Although I'm sure some will disagree, but why not support the NHL since you do enjoy hockey and the Wings (who are a part of the NHL ). I know it probably doesn't make any difference in regards to the Wing's profits, but I'm all for supporting the league...even though it's being run by an ignorant little elf. How the hell else are we going to get the point across that they need to get their act together? I have no interest in giving money to Bettman of the Board when they have no interest in creating a viewing package that works. I love hockey and the NHL itself, but I don't pay for services I don't like. Edit: this is not a pro hockey streams post... just commentary & opinion. Doggy 130 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 well you can come to my house and see for your self, I have a very good top end notebook and a HDTV that I hook it up to well you can take DOGGY answers has he does not know what he is talking about and also I have over 30 hockey buddys that are members of hockeysteams Hey I used to do that too. But hey, it didn't exactly look good. That was the best thing about hockeystreams, putting it through my Xbox. These days I don't even use my subscription to HS even though I've paid for it. I use other sources if I need to stream because the quality is better and usually more reliable. I just find it curious that you can't say a bad word about hockeystreams. Also, your post makes no sense at all.
