miller76 463 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 I know there is already a thread that talks about the Directv and versus negotiations. But for posters on here that are Directv customers who are subscribing to their Center ice package, listen to this. As many of you here are pissed off about this whole situation, I am as well. I just called them a few minutes ago to cancel my service with them. They asked me why, and I was honest. I told them that 'your ongoing negotiations with versus is very angering to hockey fans everywhere who subscribe to directv.' The lady said they completely understand and are willing to take steps to keep me as a customer. She asked which provider I was switching too. I am thinking of switching to Dish. She said that Dish is nearing negotiations with several partners including versus. If I stay on with Directv: - She offered to refund the whole Center Ice package subscription I was paying for. - There is no new contract that you are subjected to accept. - The agreement is that you must not cancel Directv for 60 days. Note: I am no longer under the initial contract period with them. I am not sure if this applies to customers under their initial 18 or 24 month contracts. But I think it is definetly worth contacting directv, about your unhappiness with this situation. You could have the 163.80 refunded back to you.

But for posters on here that are Directv customers who are subscribing to their Center ice package, listen to this. As many of you here are pissed off about this whole situation, I am as well. I just called them a few minutes ago to cancel my service with them. They asked me why, and I was honest. But I think it is definetly worth contacting directv, about your unhappiness with this situation. You could have the 163.80 refunded back to you. I think there used to be another thread about this as well. But I can confirm similar results. They knocked 50% off Center Ice, then gave me $16 off per month for 6 months, and $10 per month for 6 months after that. So while they didn't cover all the costs right out of the gate, in the end I get Center Ice for free and then some. The key is you have to get to the cancellation or as they call it "retention" department. they're the ones authorized to make these deals in order to keep you.
