newfy 695 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 No. If the Wings had a healthy roster, Leino wouldn't have so much pressure, which would give him more time to adapt to the big league (on the 3rd line). When the season started I thought Leino-Flip-Williams looked dynamite together. Leino showed nice flashes with Zetterberg after Flip went down, but I think matching up against 2nd liners and top defenders took what little confidence Leino had. I'm sure Holland is not giving up on Leino. Yeah but this far into the season regardless of who he's playing with or against he should have more then 6 points. If that line did so well ealrier in the season he should've had that many points in about 7 or 8 games tops. Flip was putting together decent point totals same with Williams. Maybe they had the chemistry not Leino. You could put Helm on that line and I bet he would have more points then Leino.

esteef 2,679 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Newbury didn't end up finishing all of his checks and at his frame and his ability to hit he wasn't making a huge impact Which is why we all remember his name right? and not Ritowhateverthehell? Newbury finished checks, made good outlet passes to keep plays alive when the puck was recovered in his d-zone (ie finding the more skilled player to carry the puck up ice), forechecked well with May and pushed and shoved and got in people's faces. Oh and he got a goal by going hard to the net. Pretty good for a 4th liner that didn't make a huge impact. esteef
