Riverkings sign 2 new players

The local CHL team just picked up a former Wings draftee. A 9th rounder in 1999 that never seemed to get out of the WHL.

He was our 6th and final pick of the '99 draft. I honestly didn't remember any of the other 5 players except, of course, Mr. 7th rounder - Z.

Out of those 6, only 1 guy other than Z made the NHL and that was for 32 games over 2 seasons as a Blue Jacket.

Kent McDonnell was the CBJ.

I'm surprised that the guy was even drafted at all. I suppose it's due to his size (6'4"). I'm sure if he was just of average size, he wouldn't even have been drafted. Then again, being drafted in the 9th round is almost the same as not being drafted.

I don't know anything about this Ken Davis, but Zetterberg was drafted in the 7th round (210th Overall), not the 4th round.

Don't tell that to Jonathan Ericsson... or maybe, do tell him. He needs a bit of a wakeup call.

I remember Kent McDonnell. He signed with Detroit after playing for CBJ, but stayed in GRR the whole year. 2005-ish.

Only a fair player at best - even against other AHL'ers.
