Lilja isn't technically on the cap yet... he has to be cleared by team doctors first and they cannot go over the cap, even with the Olympic break - a player would have to be LTIR'd or cleared once he is... hooon 1,089 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 Whats the latest with Maltby's potential surgery? That would clear things up. Otherwise, time to say goodbye to Lebda.
cjm502 165 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 Whats the latest with Maltby's potential surgery? That would clear things up. Otherwise, time to say goodbye to Lebda. This right here. If Malts gets surgery we stay under the cap and are fine. If he does not we will be forced to waive/trade a player. Everything has been pointing towards Lebda as the odd man out. Everything has been pointing towards Lebda as the odd man out. Even if Maltby goes on IR - I still want to see Lebda moved... I'd rather us bring up Janik in an emergency basis and role with 7 D using Meech as the 7th and possibly even as a swingman for forward if needed, then bring May back up or go out and get another forward... I cringe every time I see 22 on the ice...

Not really stating anything new here, but he has reached the extent of his potential and his time here is finished, especially with Lilja and Kronwall back. Janik or even Kindl is a more appropriate replacement if needed. At least Meech has shown flashes of competency, and is far more versatile than Lebda can ever hope to be. I'm past the point of wanting some value for Lebda, just waive him and get it done with.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 Lebda hasn't been bad defensively lately, but I'm sick of wasting our time with the puck with his horrible rushes that never result in anything except the puck coming back into our zone.
Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted February 15, 2010 Maltby would go on the LTIR. This would allow enough cap space to activate Lilja. Lebda would then be Maltby's LTIR replacement which allows you to go over the cap.

Well, I still think we can get at least a conditional pick out of him, hell Jody freaking Shelly got a 6th round/5th round pick in return... but all and all, I agree 100%, I can think of at least 4 guys in GR(Kindl, Janik, Pyett, Kolosov, etc....) that I would rather see brought up and at LEAST get their feet wet, then ever see Lebda in a Wings sweater again... if it came down to it though, I would rather him be waived for nothing if we couldn't even get a 6th rounder in return... whatever it takes to get him off this team... WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 I'm pretty sure Patty Eaves isnt on LTIR so you gotta add his $500K as well to the original post. That puts us around $700K over the cap. Moving Lebda and his $650K salary still doesn't solve anything. One more player would have to hit the road. Of course, if Maltby elects to have surgery on his shoulder, everything is taken care of, and Lebda would be in the pressbox.
