The Original Lines poster are basically perfect. I'd like to see Nick Senior w/ Nick Junior and Raffi w/ Stuey. That's all I'd change. Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Franzen-Filppula-Bertuzzi Cleary-Helm-Williams Miller-Draper-Eaves #1) can't have Bertuzzi and Williams (essentially our two worst defensive players) on the same line, it would be too great of a liability defensively #2) can't have Miller getting 3rd line center minutes while Helm is getting 4th line center minutes. a miller-draper-eaves line should be almost just as good defensively as the draper-helm-eaves line was. #3) i really liked cleary and williams together back when they were playing with zetterberg in the middle. helm isn't zetterberg. but still. this line should be a solid defensive third line (if williams steps it up in that department), and might score a goal from time to time. #4) filppula setting up mule and bert should give us a pretty solid second scoring line. Separating Zetterberg and Datsyuk you have two options: 1: Franzen/Datsyuk/Homer Bertuzzi/Zetterberg/Cleary 2: Bertuzzi/Datsyuk/Homer Franzen/Zetterberg/Cleary In each case you have Bertuzzi being the #2 guy on his line, and he just won't fill that role well enough. Looks at his last whatever games, he isn't scoring goals. Either of Bertuzzi/Datsyuk/Homer or Bertuzzi/Zetterberg/Cleary will not be good, the former being a little better. Filppula on the third line results in an enormously better third line no doubt, but the top six will get that much worse. And I do think we will have a good third/fourth line without Filppula. I agree with Babs -- they should both center their own line and spread out the depth. Bertuzzi is the one forward I struggle to find a spot for that makes sense. I don't know that he belongs in the top six, but there is no way I want him on a line with Jason Williams. Bertuzzi - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Franzen - Zetterberg - Cleary (we know this line works) Miller - Filppula - Williams Draper - Helm - Eaves I don't care for Bertuzzi and Holmstrom on the same line especially against other team's best forwards. Bertuzzi has shown flashes of being sound defensively, but he can also be sloppy with the puck. Homer can't really skate or play defense. I wouldn't be opposed to swapping Mule and Bertuzzi -- I'm just hesistant to go away from what was our best line last season down the playoff stretch. I'm just glad to see everyone back. (1)Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Cleary/Williams Miller-Filppula-Williams/Cleary Draper-Helm-Eaves Lidstrom-Kronwall Rafalski-Stuart Ericsson-Lilja Howard Osgood (2)Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom(extra scoring power) Franzen-Filppula-Williams(I think Williams has a better shot then Cleary also better natural scorer) Bertuzzi-Cleary-Miller(grinding goals from this line hopefully,Cleary is also 50% on faceoffs this season) Draper-Helm-Eaves Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Lilja Howard Osgood Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
