F2B&G 15 Report post Posted May 10, 2010 Having not been to a playoff game at the Joe prior to game 4 I was all in favor of the Red Wings moving to new home, but after experiencing game 4 I really hope they renovate the Joe. The atmosphere at the Joe is amazing and I feel like one of these new cookie cutter excuses of an arena would destroy some of that atmosphere of the Joe that was amazing to be a part of. A brand new arena wouldn't necessarily have to have a "cookie cutter" look. The Wings have a ton of 'Original Six' tradition and a rich history that I'm certain would be reflected in the feel/decor of a new barn. When you consider everything that would have to be done to the Joe to bring it up to date and make it last another 30-40 years, not to mention likely having to figure out the logistics of moving the team to the Palace for a few seasons, I would presume that the costs of renovating JLA vs. building something new are going to be about the same, though I may be wrong.
