stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 Have him compete for a job in camp and if he doesn't win a job, send him to GR and if someone claims him, so be it... He is a solid enough, stay at home defensemen with a mean streak and will clear guys out from the front of the net... I don't think he was ever in the right system and wasn't developed properly, he's still only 26 and I think still has a lot of upside...
Guest mindfly Report post Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) He's basically already a lock for SEL last time i heard http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/hockey/sverige/elitserien/modo/article7040707.ab Edited May 11, 2010 by mindfly
Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 He isn't an NHL caliber player. Let's hope that 5th round pick brings us something. 1 redwing_78 reacted to this
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 He did very well in Grand Rapids in his short time down there, and would definately be an improvement over Meech, Lebda etc. Maybe another half season in Grand Rapids to get used to the Wings style of play and he could easily take that #7 defensive spot. I don't think he'll even be the #7 next year, as it would essentially mean trading away Ericsson or Kindl and he'd have to BLOW AWAY the brass in camp to do so, but just to give him a chance, maybe one more year in GR and then next year when Nick retires, maybe then he comes in as the #7... I'm not saying he's going to change our team, I just think he's worth re-signing as depth... like you said, it's a drastic improvement over Meebda
titanium2 867 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 He already said he doesn't want to play in the AHL anymore. Unless the Wings sign him on as their #6 then he ain't coming back.

Maybe he can find a way on to the #7 spot if Lidstrom retires. Otherwise, as he cleared waivers would he really find it that easy to get a one-way contract with another team? At any rate, we need him in Grand Rapids...Im sure we can find a way.

Otherwise, as he cleared waivers would he really find it that easy to get a one-way contract with another team? Even if Lids retires, that won't open a spot for Tolly - we'll have to shop for another 1st pairing DMan. I like Tollefsen too, and I wish he would stay on in GR, but it looks like he's yet another guy who would prefer to play in an inferior European league where he can be the man. Sucks, but what can you do?

titanium2 867 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 "OMG so lazy! Doesn't WANT to play in the AHL?? Selfish player with NO work ethic!" Yeah I don't buy that bulls*** either. You can develop perfectly fine in the SEL.
