RedWingsFan1003 1 Report post Posted July 17, 2010 It took some time, but I finally figured out the logistics of a new MLB Schedule Format, with each team playing every other team both at Home and on the Road. Am I the only one who wants to see the Tigers play the National League more often and see every National League team come to Detroit every season, instead of just three teams each season? I still have the 162-game schedule with 81 Home Games and 81 Road Games for every team. If I didn't, the format wouldn't work. Anyway, I have worked out the kinks and want to see what every fan thinks about my proposed new format. What would you think about such things as a home-and-home series with Washington or Pittsburgh or the Cubs or Milwaukee or Cincinnati? What do you think about playing Minnesota, Chicago, Kansas City, and Cleveland 13 times each season instead of 18 or 19? What would you think about playing the National-League style for 30 games instead of the current nine? What would you think about moving Houston to the American League? Do you think this would help baseball, hurt baseball, or be indifferent? Do you wish you could see pitchers such as Stephen Strasburg, Ubaldo Jimenez, or Tim Lincecum each season? I know I do. But I'm asking you, what do you think? NEW MLB SCHEDULE FORMAT MOVE HOUSTON FROM THE N.L. CENTRAL DIVISION TO THE A.L. WEST DIVISION. THEN ALL SIX LEAGUE DIVISIONS CONSIST OF FIVE TEAMS EACH. SCHEDULE LOGISTICS EACH TEAM PLAYS THEIR FOUR DIVISION OPPONENTS 13 TIMES EACH -- 52 GAMES. 26 HOME - 26 AWAY EACH TEAM PLAYS THE 15 OPPOSITE LEAGUE OPPONENTS 4 TIMES EACH -- 60 GAMES. 30 HOME - 30 AWAY EACH TEAM PLAYS THEIR TEN LEAGUE OPPONENTS 5 TIMES EACH -- 50 GAMES. 25 HOME - 25 AWAY TIGERS SCHEDULE LOGISTICS: 1. TIGERS PLAY THEIR FOUR DIVISION OPPONENTS 13 TIMES EACH -- 52 GAMES. 26 HOME - 26 AWAY 52 GAMES vs. A.L. CENTRAL. ----- HOME/AWAY ALTERNATES EACH SEASON. 13 GAMES vs. MIN -- 7 HOME -- 6 AWAY 13 GAMES vs. CWS -- 6 HOME -- 7 AWAY 13 GAMES vs. KC -- 7 HOME -- 6 AWAY 13 GAMES vs. CLE -- 6 HOME -- 7 AWAY 26 HOME -- 26 AWAY 2. TIGERS PLAY THE 15 OPPOSITE LEAGUE OPPONENTS 4 TIMES EACH -- 60 GAMES. 30 HOME - 30 AWAY 60 GAMES vs. NATIONAL LEAGUE ----- TWO 2-GAME SERIES EACH SEASON(HOME & HOME). 4 GAMES vs. ATL, NYM, PHI, FLA, WSH, CIN, STL, CHC, MIL, PIT, SD, COL, LAD, SF, ARI. 30 HOME -- 30 AWAY 3. TIGERS PLAY THEIR TEN LEAGUE OPPONENTS 5 TIMES EACH -- 50 GAMES. 25 HOME - 25 AWAY 25 GAMES vs. A.L. EAST. ----- HOME/AWAY ALTERNATES EACH SEASON. 5 GAMES vs. NYY -- 2 HOME -- 3 AWAY 5 GAMES vs. TB -- 3 HOME -- 2 AWAY 5 GAMES vs. BOS -- 2 HOME -- 3 AWAY 5 GAMES vs. BAL -- 3 HOME -- 2 AWAY 5 GAMES vs. TOR -- 2 HOME -- 3 AWAY 12 HOME -- 13 AWAY 25 GAMES vs. A.L. Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted July 17, 2010 I'd much rather see the AL and NL play eachother more times than just 18.
redwings8831 40 Report post Posted August 4, 2010 There is a huge flaw in your format that occurs in basically the first line. If you have 5 teams in every division then you will have an odd number of teams in each league and an interleague series going at all times (or one team from each league being off for three days at a time). Logistics of baseball don't allow this (having time off would mess up pitching rotations). The only way this can be avoided is having even amount of teams in each league.
