Spending money on Modano does lessen the amount of cash we'd have to spend on defensemen, which is not a position we're deep at. I don't understand why a Cleary/Helm/Hudler line wasn't enough for people to be happy? Apparently we also needed to sign Modano. Move Meech and Miller/Ritola and Wings have approx $1.5 million to sign a defensemen. You are right, Wings can't afford a 'Sutton' type guy (who wouldn't get the ice time to justify his contract anyhow). But can get damn good depth guy for that cash. Why ain't $1.5 million enough?
