Guest blueadams Report post Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) Here's what NHL.com says (below), but it's confusing. I'm basically just wondering what the maximum salary (i.e. what I plug into capgeek) is going to be for Brunner and Schultz. I've seen it discussed numerous places on the board. No one seems to know the answer for sure. I thought that this thread might lead to one. ...It sounds like the maximum annual salary is going to be about $925,000. ...It sounds like the maximum signing bonus is going to be 10% of that, about $92,500 (Do we add that into the capgeek total? - $1,017,500) ...It sounds like the maximum performance bonus is going to be about $2,850,000 ("A" + "B", $850,000 + $2,000,000), but idk if you plug that into the cap geek total either? ENTRY LEVEL PLAYERS How much can Entry Level players make? Entry Level players will be subject to a maximum annual salary (plus signing and games played bonuses) of $850,000 for 2005 and 2006 draftees; $875,000 for 2007 and 2008 draftees; $900,000 for 2009 and 2010; and $925,000 for 2011 draftees. The maximum combined signing bonus will be limited to 10% of the player's maximum annual compensation in any year. Entry Level players may negotiate for performance bonuses up to a maximum of $850,000 in individual "Schedule A" bonuses per year (maximum of $212,500 per bonus). A player may also be eligible to earn individual "B" bonuses for League-wide excellence, which will, as a general matter, be paid by the League. In addition, a player will be eligible to negotiate with his club "excess" individual "B" bonuses, subject to a maximum aggregate of $2 million in any year. How long will a player be in the Entry Level system? Players who sign their first contract at age 18-21 are required to sign three-year Entry Level contracts; players age 22-23 will be required to sign two-year deals; and players age 24 will be required to sign a one-year Entry Level contract. How much can unsigned players from the 2003 and 2004 Entry Drafts contract for? Clubs may sign 2004 draftees to a maximum salary of $984,200 and 2003 draftees to a maximum salary of $942,400. These salaries are based on a 24% rollback to the maximum salary under the previous CBA for the players' respective draft years. Additionally, draftees from prior years may negotiate for a signing bonus not to exceed 30% of his maximum annual compensation. Performance bonuses may be negotiated as per new CBA rules. dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted June 25, 2012 For entry level contracts all bonuses count towards the cap hit. If you look at teams like the Oilers with high draft picks their cap hits are damn near $4Mm
ogreslayer 1,069 Report post Posted June 25, 2012 Take a look at the cap situation in Edmonton as an example. Cap hits of $3.775 & $3.75 for RJH & Hall respectively. Schultz, given the year he was drafted, could come in no higher than a $3.8125m cap hit.
Guest blueadams Report post Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) So, safe to assume that Schultz is going to get all of that 3.8125 max ELC. I wonder what Brunner got? He's not even restricted to an ELC is he? Have there been any early rumors about what he got? Edited June 25, 2012 by blueadams

Have there been any early rumors about what he got? Being older than 25, he is not subject to an ELC. Haven't seen any rumors on contract terms but my best guess would be a 1 or 2 years at no more than $1-1.5m.

Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted June 25, 2012 It's $3.775 max. The $925,000 salary maximum includes any signing bonus. Plus $2,850,000 max performance bonuses. For now at least, there is no bonus carry-over, so that entire amount would have to be treated the same as any other cap hit.
