Can't believe I'm just finding this forum, but I must submit my protest at Versus exercising exclusivity on the games.
WHAT IN THE HECK IS THE NHL THINKING?!?!
Just a few years ago we got no hockey - fans were lost. Now, instead of promoting the games, putting as many in prime time for easy access to gain as much of a viewer/fan abse as they can, they let a premium channel snap up exclusivity and hang us loyal fans and local broadcasters, who watch all season, show the games that few people who don't follow the teams want to see out to dry. Thanks very much NHL and Versus. Now I have to go to a bar to see the playoffs - the time of year when you have the highest profile and the best chance to gain viewers. And will the bar make any extra money - NOPE. I don't drink anymore. And I refuse to pay a premium for a cable channel that I am going to watch (as of current count 2 times) in a season. Round 3 better be against a Canadian team so that CBC carries it since THAT is a basic cable channel here in Northwest Ohio. I long for the days when Ken and Mick were on Channel 50 and they carried every (nearly) game for the local audience.
Out of curiosity - did Versus go exclusive on any other teams or just our beloved Wings?
Thanks for letting me vent folks. Carry on. GO WINGS!
I think it would be good if Versus and NBC let the local commentators call the games..not the assclowns they have that didn't travel with the team all season long. For instance if the game was in San Jose everyone would see Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda and if the game was in Detroit everyone would see whoever you guys have...I'm too lazy to look it up.
