I don't know about that. He is young, hopefully he grows up if that's a problem hopefully Datsyuk and Lidstrom and the Wings organization can set a good example for him but the guy's young tough and got 40 goal potential and is going to be more affordable now to acquire than he ever will be.

I think Stewart would be a perfect fit for the Wings if he doesn't have prima donna attitude issues like Crosby. If the Wings can get Pariise, they would have a lot of good skating, skilled finess type smaller players with Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Parise, Nyquist even with prospects they are stocked with such players like Tatar, Jarnkrok, and Pulkinnen so trading Filppula for Stewart would leave us enough cap space left to get an elite defenseman like Suter and bigger tougher bottom 6 forward that would leave us looking something like this. I don't think we would be able to afford to keep Hudler however.

Datsyuk-Parise-Stewart

Zetterberg-Franzen-Nyquist

Helm-Bertuzzi-Cleary

Miller-Abdelkader-Moen/Gaustad

with Eaves, Mursak and Emmerton fighting for time

Suter-Kronwall

Smith-White

Quincey-Ericsson

Kindl and Schultz as reserves

Howard-Mcdonald/free-agent

That would be a younger, deeper, bigger, tougher to play against line-up than the one we iced this year and still as skilled

People have forgotten about 16/11/2011? Interesting.

Never heard of him. But a top prospect is a top prospect. I'm sure The Wings may be on his list, but do we want some premadonna that refuses to sign for an NHL team? Who does he think he is? No thanks.

Agreed. These premadonnas are a diamond dozen. It's a doggy dog world out there so these kids shouldn't be taking stuff like this for granite.

#2300601 Bettman wants to tout the "Original 12" now, haha

This would be the biggest slap in the face to the O6 teams.... I can't even equate words right now....

Don't get your panties in a wad  "Original 12 buddies"

#2298000 Johan Franzen wants to 'have more fun'

Posted by LeftWinger on 29 April 2012 - 04:09 PM

Fun? Confidence? Like winning an ALL TIME NHL RECORD 23 wins in a row at home isn't fun or motivating, or makes you more confident....Fact is, you, I and the Detroit Red Wings know that they had no business winning all those games, not the way they were playing. They were playing like crap for the most part, fortunate they were winning at home, but they were losing everything on the road, then when they ran out of steam, they lost everything. Not one win at home in the playoffs.

This team needs more than tweaks and line juggling...it needs a major influence up front (Parise) and on the D (Suter.) It needs a #2 goalie who is actually going to challenge Jimmy for the starting spot, not someone who is a career AHL'er. Some if not most of you do not like the "names" I picked, but in reality we all have players who we'd like to see leave and come to this team. A major shakeup would be letting go of Franzen, Cleary, Hudler, Holmstrom, Lidstrom, Emmerton, Mursak to trades and retirement and adding Parise, Semin, Morrow, Nyquist, Sheahan, Suter & Vokoun. You can insert your own names that you think will make this team compete again, but the fact remains, tweaks don't work with this team, it's been tweaked all year long. It's time for change, it's time for excitement to return to Joe Louis Arena and say what you will, but a top two scoring lines of:

Parise-Dastyuk-Semin
Filppula-Zetterberg-Nyquist

is far more exciting and actually better than

Franzen-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi
Filppula-Zetterberg-Hudler.

Lids may or may not retire, and that is fine, but he needs to sit down with Holland and tell him he will take whatever is leftover after trying to SERIOUSLY make a run at Parise AND Suter if not others as well. Let Holland try to secure our future first, then offer our history his final contract. If Holland throws $6.2M at Lidstrom again, it will screw us for Parise and Suter and we will NEVER have this opportunity again to secure two of the best players in the league today (IN THEIR PRIME) for the rest of their career's...Please Nick, either retire or do the right thing by your fans and this team...

#2296015 Shorter Overtimes

Posted by black on 22 April 2012 - 09:54 PM
Seems like overtimes have ended a lot faster the last few years than I can ever remember.

The marathon overtime games of the past are fading away. About 10 years ago especially, there were multiple OT games seemingly every night.

I guess in one sense, this era of hockey brings more exciting back and forth OT's, hence the game ends faster. Ten years ago, there was more trapping and less chances, hence the games went on longer. Of course, there are still games from time to time that go multiple OT's (we already had one in these playoffs), but I'm noticing they're becoming more rare.

Personally, I miss seeing longer overtime games, especially when other teams are playing. Just seeing the grind and tear that long games have on the players adds to the playoff excitement. Goals in such games are so backbreaking for the team that loses them. Now, the games end before I can even sit down to watch the OT.

I plan on negging you every chance I get.

#2296664 Say what you will about Barry Trotz...

I believe that Trotz was serious. Everything he has said previously indicates to me that he looks up to Lidstrom as much as his lack of a neck allows.

Pathetic.

#2295597 BYE BYE GUPPIES!

Posted by Crymson on 22 April 2012 - 02:58 AM

Anyone not a Preds or Blues fan has ZERO room to gloat about teams being eliminated right now.

And who are you to proclaim this? I'll gloat about other teams being eliminated as much as I please.

#2294999 Have we seen the last of Holmstrom?

Posted by Crymson on 21 April 2012 - 02:18 AM

I dunno, he was pretty stoked about the Winter Classic, and I remember a quote at the time from him were he was saying that he was going to use the WC to persuade Nick to come back for another year.

Perhaps a more pertinent question is whether Holland will offer him a new contract - or is that a silly question where Kenny and Vets are concerned? :P

Ya, he sure did offer Maltby and Draper contracts...

#2289677 Preds not allowed to play ping pong at Joe Louis Arena

Posted by rrasco on 17 April 2012 - 11:20 AM

Don't waste your breath.

Here's a few tips from a Blues fan who has visited/posted in this forum off and on for the past 10 years...

- When Wings fans here start breaking out the "How many cups have you won?" Just smile and move on. It is very predictable and you can usually see it coming. It's the equivalent of them running out of bullets in a gun fight and throwing the gun. It happens all of the time.

- Some fans here will question why you are posting here. Those fans do not understand the benefit of having other team's fans contribute.

- You will be called a troll by some. Those particular folks do not know what the definition of a forum troll is...as you rightfully pointed out.

- A few members here (usually newbs) will call you names, attack you, ridicule you and harass you, even if you are simply talking hockey. But don't try to laugh it off or God forbid zing them back, you may get a warning from the staff...or maybe that only happens to me.

Wanna talk about the certain Nashville vs. St. Louis Western Conference Final matchup this year?

I say Blues in 6. ;)

Awww look, the Blues fan is getting along with the Predators fan, how cute!

You guys come in here with the excuse that "we're just talking hockey". That's pretty much the equivalent of me poking a bear with a stick and calling it a scientific experiment. You guys are here, pushing buttons, poking us with a stick....don't they have a name for that on the Internet? Oh yeah, TROLLING! It's just like this post above of cprice's...it is not on topic, it is only supporting the Predator's fan on a Red Wing's site, it has no intention being here other than to get under the skin of us Wings' fans....just like the Bertuzzi ping pong incident. Only problem is, this is ourf****** house.

Matt wants you guys to be able to come here, and frankly I don't have a problem with that, but when you start putting up all the smoke and mirrors your gentlemen do...well, I'm not allowed to say what I want about that.
