#2628411 Roster Moves by the Wings

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on Yesterday, 12:13 PM

I think the "right shooting defenseman" thing has tended to get overblown over the last three years.  Nothing about being a right shooter makes a guy better, or more deserving of a roster spot.  It's a characteristic that, all things being equal, you'd like to have a balance of.
For instance, Marchenko and Smith were a better pair last year than Smith and Zidlicky.  In one instance having a righty worked, and in the other it didn't make much difference.  If forced to choose, I would rather have seen Smith with another lefty (Ouellet?), or Zidlicky with another righty (Marchenko?), rather than those two together.
The lefty righty thing is based on all other variables being equal. If you're trying to find a partner for a lefty, and you've got two good guys with similar skillsets, then pick a righty.  But if one guy is a mismatch in every other way, but is right handed, don't give him the spot based primarily on that.
Just my 2 cents.

I'd take the best defensemen period

The fact that jensen is right handed is just an added bonus and helps us balance the d ... He can play and I think at 25 he's ready , don't know now much longer the guy has to wait for a shot

My own opinion is smith and kindl have no future here and he can't be worse than those 2 so bring him up now

#2628405 3 Bold Predictions for 2015-16

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on Yesterday, 12:04 PM

1 redwings at least make the conference finals
2 redwings have the most players on a team to get 20+ goals in the league
3 mrazek becomes the true number 1 in detroit

#2628392 Roster Moves by the Wings

I knewwww it had a gut feeling he was gonna make it , kids are finally getting the chances with Blashill as coach

Now if he starts racking up the points there's no way they could send him down

Ummm what if he does so good in the top line we gotta keep larkin there ? Datsyuk centers 2nd line with Gus and Tatar?, sheahan goes to wing for this year?unless we make some moves if mule stays healthy he might have to go on the 4th line ... We might have the deepest 4 lines we've had in forever

Scary team this year and laughable these experts I seen on tv in montreal all took detroit 5th place and beyond in our division

When datsyuk returns ...

Zetterberg larkin abdelkader

Tatar datsyuk nyquist

Sheahan richards pulkkinen

Helm/jurco glendening Franzen

Miller cleary anderssen ...

When pavel returns and if larkin sticks unless someone good gets hurt we might have to depart with one of helm/jurco/pulkkinen

I'd package a helm/smith or prospect /high draft pick type deal for a byfuglien if possible or someone similar ... Our d is where we clearly need an upgrade

#2627700 Completely Healthy Roster?

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 29 September 2015 - 02:25 PM

I think the issue with keeping Helm over someone like Miller is that he's due for a raise. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not exactly excited about the prospect of paying 3+ million for someone the team might use on the fourth line. Maybe he doesn't play on the fourth line right away, but if you've got guys like Larkin, Athanasiou, Mantha and Bertuzzi pushing for spots, and Jurco and Pulkkinen suited for top-nine duty, where does Helm play?
Worst case scenario, you're looking at contracts like Brooks Laich or Brandon Sutter's. Best case, you're looking at something along the lines of Andrew Cogliano or Matt Stajan's deals.
I'm not saying I'd prefer to keep Miller over him, just that Helm making 3-4M to play on the fourth line doesn't make much sense to me. I think it should come down to one of Abdelkader or Helm, but not both.

Agreed ... Been saying with everyone coming up there's zero chance were keeping both helm and abdelkader and with abdelkader giving us something in his game not a lot of wings player bring and the added bonus that he's from michigan I'm guessing he's gonna be the one to stick

Love darren helm and his speed and if our drafting were horrible he'd be going nowhere but our prospects we got coming up are unreal

In fact I'd even consider moving helm right now in a package before losing him at the end of the year for nothing and then maybe giving a nosek a chance

That's one thing I'm not liking is how were not putting in 2-3 rookies a season to blend in right now cause the way were heading were gonna have 4-7 rookies next year or year after and it might give us problems with all of the unexperience

Kindl/smith also have no longterm future as well as Quincey .... I'd get rid of 2 of those personally and put in marchenko/ouellet/jensen and I think our back end would look a lot better now and the kids would gain some experience

But what do I know

#2627641 9/28 Exhibition GDT : Red Wings at Boston Bruins, 7:00 EST

Nice goal by jurco

Gonna surprise a lot of people this season

#2620519 Remaing RFAs to be signed - Jurco, Pulkkinen, Aubry

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 14 July 2015 - 03:06 PM

I think unfortunetly even if mule is back it'll only be a matter of time before he takes another hit and is gone

As for the jurco article just sounds like he wants more money .... He should of hired ryan o'reillys agent ... Bit off topic here .... I knew about o'reillys cap hit but I heard on the radio today that he's making 11 million this season

I got no idea how this lets crash my car into a tim hortons ******* is getting all this money ... Most overpaid player in the league by far

And back to topic lol ... Got no doubt jurco and pulkkinen will excel this season under Blashill ... Unlike Babcock he will know jow to utilize the kids and wouldn't surprise me if they both got 15-20 goals

Just worried with all these 1 yr deals cause you know if they get good seasons they'll be asking for more cash than 1 mill per ballpark

#2620371 Mitch Callahan signed 1-year - 600k

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 13 July 2015 - 01:21 PM

I don't think his chances are "slim, to none".  Blashill loves the guy.  Called him "a player you win with".  Used him on the top line in GR.  He'll get every opportunity to break in with the big club.

Unless injuries occur I really don't see How Callahan could make the team

#2620062 Sharp & Johns to DAL for Daley and Garbut

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 11 July 2015 - 12:23 AM

Chicago's reasoning to getting rid of sharp was to get rid of money , yet they somehow have to pay 25% of his salary and added like 5 million with the trade ... Surprised they just didn't wait it out and see if they could find a taker in a month or so

This guarantees johnny oduya is a goner now ... Should we get rid of Quincey or smith to add oduya on a one year deal of possible?

#2619974 Gustav Nyquist signed 4-Year Deal $4.75 mill AAV

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 10 July 2015 - 02:23 PM

Holland is on a streak, 4.75 for a player entering prime? This will be a major steal in hindsight if nyquist can keep up his goal scoring and get used to playoff hockey.
Upwards of 5 mill and 6 million my a**

I think we both got a fair deal ... He had what ? 2 27 goal seasons ? I think 4.75 is more than fair , wouldn't call it a steal

Just think the other gm's throwing 7.5 per at the ryan o'reillys of the league are f***en morons

Hate ken holland all you will for not making more deals and so on, but he'll never over pay someone

If Gus was asking for 7 per he'd be gone

Ericsson. The guy is overpaid. Not sure there'd be any takers. Then next year KFQ and Richards are off the books. That's over $10M in space with those 3.

0% chance Ericsson gets dealt ... I know a lot of people here hate him but we don't have guys his size in the back

#2619483 Free agents this off season

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 07 July 2015 - 04:01 PM

I mean, until he's actually able to rip off his canon of a shot in the NHL, I think he's technically a zero trick pony.

Some of these comments are hilarious ... Can we at least give the guy a full season before tearing him into shreds?

Nyquist 4 goals in first 40 games in 2 seasons

Tatar 5 goals in his first 27 games in 2 seasons

Pulkkinen 5 goals in his first 34 games in 2 seasons

What a bust ... I'm sure he'll be better utilized with Blashill as coach

Let's wait and see what he does next season

#2618766 Retire Sergei Fedorovís Jersey Immediately

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 02 July 2015 - 04:28 PM

I get your argument but saying he's 3rd in playoff points and played 100 games less than #2. Who is a defenseman is odd, defenseman aren't supposed to put up the kind of points lids did, that's why he was so special among other things.

But yes please retire #91 soon

I get your point, and no argument on lidstrom he's amazing but just stating a fact the guy played 100 less games than the 2nd place lidstrom and still ended 3rd all time and if he played just another 2-3 years before leaving he'd probably be the redwings all time playoff points leader

He just deserves to get his jersey raised , one of the best redwing players of all time

#2618724 Depth chart for RW/Griffins

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 02 July 2015 - 01:10 PM

Paetsch? How do you play hockey from prison? The only way marchenko isn't with the RW's is if we still have both KFQ and Kindl. using him in PO games last year should tell us all what the RW's think about him and his development.
BTW this was just a means of showing the depth and talent we have. Yes some guys could go to Juniors. IIRC Turgeon signed a pro contract and can't go back to junior anymore. Svech can as of today. But there are some funny rules between the NHL/CHL/AHL etc....

Lmao forgot about the gambling stuff ... I'll change it up ... As for marchenko sadly I do believe he I'll start with the griffins , trust me I'd much rather have him in detroit

Svechnikov will stay in the juniors , pretty sure I read that somewhere and as for turgeon can't say I'm 100% certain but I do believe he'll go back Down for his last year with portland

Hope frk gets a real shot this year playing with the fellow kids rather than Toledo or he's a goner, and I think Aubry was signed as well?

Mantha larkin Miele

Bertuzzi athanasiou zengerle

Tverdon nosek Frk

Aubry Campbell natasiuk

Guessing there will be more vets upfront but the only ones that come to mind are Miele and hogan, just hope we go more with the kids (can't recall ever seeing our ahl this stacked with youth)

Ouellet marchenko

Evans sproul

Hicketts Jensen

Nedomlel lashoff

#2618480 Things you would like to see for 2015-16 Season

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 01 July 2015 - 05:50 PM

Looks like the lineup gonna look something like this ....

Zetterberg datsyuk abdelkader

Tatar richards nyquist

Pulkkinen sheahan Franzen

Helm glendening miller

Jurco Ferraro Andersson Callahan

Kronwall Ericsson

Dekeyser green

Quincey Smith/marchenko/ouellet/kindl

I'd personally rather replace Franzen with jurco

#2618212 Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 01 July 2015 - 03:17 PM

I see zero chance Quincey gets dealt ... I'd personally rather trade kindl/smith right now and give ouellet marchenko some games

Kids are gonna have to get in some games , Quincey will probably be gone after this season , and when some kids are ready to step up and take a bigger role I'd expect Ericsson to be the next to be gone
