#2680409 Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread

As bad as the roster looks, and as bad as losing out on Stamkos is, it might be a blessing in disguise. We have to play young players now, we don't have a choice. No free agent that we could woo is going to make us a contender. At this point I wish Kenny would just buyout Ericsson and we go really young on the back end, a bump in the road for one reason during the retool could do a lot of good.

It's too bad the kids play in detroit only when we're forced to play them

#2680171 Stamkos to... Tampa

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on Yesterday, 03:22 PM

Not surprised at all, called it a while back , couldn't see him leaving sunny Tampa, with less taxes and no media pressure ... Think it'll be good for the wings in the long run that we didn't land him

Time to make some deals , go for a trouba/brodin and maybe a hall if were lucky

At least the habs made an idiotic move today and I bet price leaves in 2 years so that'll be one less team for detroit to not worry about

How come no one talks about Erikson? I think he would be a great pickup if we miss out on Stamkos.

Ya I thought of him ... Plays good 2 way , swede ... Wouldn't surprise me at all if he was a redwing , just don't wanna give too much of a longterm deal to a 32 year old

5 yrs x 6 is the max I'd go for lucic , he's 28 now which means he'd be done at 33 and like mentioned previously his body will break down so no 6-7 yr deal , 5 years and I'd take a gamble , it would be nice to have someone to go around knocking people , + we got a ton of kids coming with small contracts so we can afford the risk

Still think our #1 priority is adding a defencmen through a trade .... I think it's highly unlikely trouba will get dealt but if we can convince the jets to trade him somehow he should be our number 1 target , after him I'd consider brodin as he's able to play 20+ a night , not put up big numbers but a reliable d

Think there's still some moves Kenny has to do outside of July 1st,I just hope it's just not losing a bunch of roster guys through waivers

#2679440 The Holiday tradition: 2016 Draft thoughts.....

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 25 June 2016 - 11:10 AM

Malmstrom wasn't ranked by any scouting services and there's little info on him , hakan Anderson found him in junior leagues so let's be hopeful it's another hakan home run

Your not understanding my initial point.
Who knows more about these players? Holland and co or you and I.
We all know the answer.

Fair enough ... Doesn't mean though every pick is right (I wish they were) and just because I'm some loser at home who happens to like someone and hope we draft that player , means that that said player will be a bust

But I get what your saying

C'mon Kenny Johnson...

Forward or dman? I know there's a Finnish forward makinen I had my eye on that wasn't drafted yet either

When I seen McLeod and then Bean go off the board, I was pissed... Then when I seen Chychrun drop to us, I was ecstatic... Then when I seen us trading the pick, I was pissed... Then when I seen what we traded the pick for, I was ecstatic... Then when I seen Fabbro go off the board I was slightly pissed... Then when I seen the players left on the board I was ecstatic... Then when I seen the player that we picked over all these other kids, I was beyond pissed... Now after 12 hours and sleeping on it, reading a lot more about him, I'm somewhat okay with the pick...
I'm not near as upset about us passing over Chychrun as I am with the selection we made in place of it... Hopefully we have a successful day two today and we can land a couple steals in the second round...

Ya I was like you yesterday , i thought for sure were drafting chychrun since the wings usually draft players that slide down ... Then I see the trade and think we got rid of datsyuks contract , kept our 1st and got a 2nd and gave up no prospects ? I was pumped

Then I'm like ok fabbro is out there ...... f***kk ... Ok this Stanley kid at 6'7 can be worth looking at ... f***kk lol

I was with friends and predicted we'd take rubstov cause the wings always say they pick the best player Available ... Anyways regardless we need help at d and it was the smart move and we added another pick and got rid of pavel , so it worked out

I also liked johansen but can't complain

#2679277 Detroit trades Datsyuk to Arizona

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 24 June 2016 - 10:53 PM

Real money vs no money. Even if he were on LTIR for Arizona they would have to pay him 1.1 million. With Pavs contract they don't pay any real money.

Which is why I never had any doubt that in the end we wouldn't have to give up a top pick or a top prospect like mantha ... Those teams are cheapskates and barely surviving and would do anything to save actual money

Great move by the wings tonight and got themselves and extra 2nd rounder tomorrow ... Now let's find a few gems tomorrow and hope we find an asset or 2 July 1st

It's exactly the type of deal we said would happen while everyone told us how dumb we were to think any team would "do us a favor." Way to go, Kenny.

Ha ya it's unbelievable that we didnt have to give away top prospects to bail out a team that didnt want to spend money

With Nill being familiar with Ericsson I see him going to Dallas rather than the oilers, Dallas also have spots to fill at defense with goligoski gone, and they aren't signing another 2-3 guys

Seguin also has 3 more years at a great 6 per deal and spezza' deal runs out in 3 yrs as well ... All the Same as Ericsson so it could work

I hope. But he's not gonna want to miss the playoffs so he's gonna move the contract despite the high cost. Therefore I think that a package would be best for us. Send Datsyuk,Tatar, Nyquist along with a prospect like Bertuzzi or a 2nd to Arizona in exchange for Hanzal. We free up a lot of cap and roster spots for our top prospects and even get the 2nd line Center we need.

Were not trading bertuzzi

Who says we can't hold out longer? You?

We got tons of kids this year at small contracts coming .... Marchenko ouellet sproul mantha Larkin athanasiou jurco pulkkinen , were not in a desperate state to shed datsyuks contract

For what to get stamkos? There's zero guarantee he would even come here so we're not giving up a top prospect ... That's ludicrous

We got quinceys 4 million off the books ... If we want to shed more salary Kenny can work the phones instead and get rid of Howard and Ericsson first , I'd much rather he got rid of those deals first than even think about shedding datsyuks contract

I agree that for a low market team that needs to get to the floor, this would be a dream come true. Get 7.5 mill towards your team salary without having to pay a cent of it and get a free prospect or draft pick. I'd be surprised if Arizona or Carolina doesn't work with us.

They'll be begging us to take that contract

None of us should want or expect us to part with a mantha or top prospect , we got a bunch of kids with smaller contracts so we'll be fine for this season

I'm more concerned with holland finding a taker for Howard and Ericsson

#2678154 Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 18 June 2016 - 04:25 PM

I still think when it's all said and done the contract will be gone , but holland is gonna sit back and let the teams go to him

And trust me they will , if teams like Chicago wanna be stupid and give up a teravainen, it doesn't mean we have to , and I don't care what some think but this contract has value to a team like Carolina who are in financial ruins and can save 7 million dollars by taking his contract

They'll come to us by the end of June begging for that contract

Gonna say it again. If Holland fails to trade that contract he needs to be fired. Period.

If it's gonna cost a mantha or a top prospect then he shouldn't do it , free up cap space by dealing Ericsson and Howard

#2677715 Looking ahead at expansion draft

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 14 June 2016 - 09:23 PM

I thought it was announced already how the expansion draft would work? Didn't an article come out a few days ago?

Players with 2 yrs pro, NHL or ahl would be exempt which means Larkin and Russo that come to mind would be safe but players like mantha, bertuzzi wouldn't

Like you said though , we might make some deals this off season and add a dman or someone worth protecting ... I just hope we protect the kids we been developing such as mantha and bertuzzi

#2677697 NHL Chooses Las Vegas for 17-18 Expansion

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 14 June 2016 - 06:36 PM

Too be fair our dollar is in the toilet. They probably wanna see it stabilise before bringing in another Canadian team.

That and more importantly i believe a team will relocate to Quebec City ... Maybe Carolina Hurricanes

And don't forget Winnipeg got Atlanta during a hockey season so it's a possibility Quebec also joins Vegas in 2017-2018
