#2573487 Official 2015 NHL Trade Deadline Thread

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 22 February 2015 - 01:02 AM

Holland would probably consider that overpayment. I just don't see him pulling the strings on any big deals involving a franchise player. If anything, we end up with a defenceman who helps solidify things, but something he does'nt have to give up too much of the "future" for.

Holland said he wouldn't give up good assets got a ufa but he would for a hockey deal and larsson is 22-23 and would be a redwing for along time

I just can't see phoenix being stupid enough to trade him anyways

#2571433 Teemu Pulkkinen called back up

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 17 February 2015 - 10:39 AM

Oh yaaaa been pushing for this for days now ... There's our big trade deadline acquisition now let's keep him up rest of the season and get him going for the playoffs and give our 3rd line some scoring punch

#2571007 Franson to Preds

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 15 February 2015 - 06:41 PM

Where is this "at any cost" coming from? Obviously I wouldn't have given up the farm for him, but we could have easily beaten out the Preds in that trade, without giving up too much. No, a first round pick isn't ideal but I think we could have given up a second and a better prospect and got the deal done. I just find it hilarious how people come on here saying, he isn't the player we needed. If he isn't the type of defenseman this team needs, then that player doesn't exist. Of all the players available (taking cost into account) he absolutely was the best fit for this team. But yeah, keep talking about Yandle... Not going to happen, nor should it...

Well the thing is the leafs gave both franson and santorelli as a duo in order to get a 1st rounder so unless we were willing to throw a top prospect I can't see us having been able to get franson without giving up the 1st rounder

Not super high on yandle either (Rather have ekman larsson but won't happen)

To the person above posting Babcock is gonna go to the leafs ... Lmao that's just ludicrous

Babcocks wants cups and wins and he won't get none of those in toronto with no team there 0%chance Babcock ends up in toronto

#2570958 Steve Montador Found Dead At His Home

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 15 February 2015 - 01:58 PM

It does come to mind after losing Boogaard and others recently.   Aneurysms came to my mind first since one of the sweetest kids I ever babysat had one last month in her 30's.  It wasn't fatal, but was close and now she has a hard, uphill battle remaining.

I'm sorry to hear that i hope she makes a full recovery

Not necessarily.  Rare things such as aneurysms can happen at any age.

Your right ... Just with what's been happening last few years that's the first thought that came to my mind ... And I checked his hockeydb and says he was in the khl last yr and he wasn't playing this season

Can't help but think he was depressed and took his own life ... Either way it's sad

Well find out soon enough what happened

R.i.p

#2570931 All Purpose Grand Rapids Griffins Thread

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 15 February 2015 - 12:34 PM

Saw the game online athanasiou was really impressive and mantha showed some flashes of brilliance and I got no doubt those 2 will be in our lineup in 2-3 seasons

As for pulkkinen I'd personally make room for him right now and give him the rest of the season and give him time to get going for the playoffs , where else we gonna trade for a guy with Pulkkinen's shot?

We need every valuable asset right now to help us win while pavel and hank are with us and I think with Pulkkinen's shot and maybe on a 3rd line playing against other teams bottom 6 in the playoffs could really provide us with a few valuable goals

#2570925 Franson to Preds

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 15 February 2015 - 12:27 PM

Bit of a surprise but I agree the price was too steep for what he'd bring to the Wings, and I concur it would have been even steeper for the Wings. He's a good fit for the Preda, though. Looks like they're planning to make a serious run in the postseason.
Overall, the Leafs got fleeced, though. If that continues, after their fire sale, it could be really ugly for the white and blue.

Would of been a 1st and pulkkinen I'm guessing

My guess is Jeff Petry

Ya depending the price could be but im sure other teams will target petry as well now which will really rise up the asking price

#2567188 Marchenko recalled from GR... Ouellet sent down

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 30 January 2015 - 04:22 PM

i think whats going to happen is we trade oullet and a pick for myers ( maybe add in kindl) then we have myers on our second pairing and marchenko on our first, gives us 2 right handed shots  on 2 of our pairings, which is very nice! Id be open for that, plus myers has a little bit of grit and hes a big body who acctualy clears out the front of the net.

EDIT: BIG NEWS: https://twitter.com/...222882554949633

Coyotes gm: Only untouchable if shane doan; Ekman-Larsson, Vermette, Yandle are available. If i was holland i overpay for either yandle or OEL. Oullet, jurco, kindl, and a pick

Phoenix is mental if they trade larsson ... If he's really available he's the top d we should go for

#2560726 Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 05 January 2015 - 04:20 PM

Haaa I had completely forgotten about this "hockey insider" lol

I personally like myers more than yandle but I wouldn't get rid of our 1st round pick in a deal , and if it means we don't get myers/yandle than so be it

What's the point of having all these top d prospects if we don't give them playing time? We'd be way better with ouellet in fulltime and alternating marchenko in some games ... Just have to find a taker for kindl

I think we need a dallas drake type guy who will knock the s*** out of guys come playoff time , a chris Neil type in his prime would be awesome

We got too many nice guys with awesome skill , we need some guys who can actually play hockey but have some bite and nastyness in them

#2558628 Are the Wings a Contender?

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 23 December 2014 - 12:12 AM

Mrazek is untouchable .... I don't think we've ever had a goaltending prospect this good , it be stupid to get rid of him

Are the wings contenders? I think so ... We need to find a make ouellet a regular and add a veteran dman (not willing to give up the farm for yandle)

And I think we'd need a dallas drake type forward for the playoffs , a big body who will knock guys around and make room for the kids

I'm pretty sure Sproul was scratched. Three or four games I think. Since then he's responded and he's tied for the lead in defense scoring and his pluus minus has shaped up. He also doesn't weigh 175 lbs. Which is likely another reason Blackman was having a hard time finding a spot on the roster. He's too light to handle a physical north american game. And unlike almqvist, he wasn't producing tons of points.

Maybe he would have with more time? 18 games in the ahl isn't enough time to say someone's a bust and even though he wasn't producing offensively I wouldn't say being -3 was awful for a rookie

Almquist is another guy we lost cause he got fed up of waiting even though he stayed in the ahl for years( for all we know maybe backman saw that along with the healthy scratches and figured wasn't worth it?)

Not saying almquist is a star but if guys like yannick weber and Raphael diaz are still in the nhl I'm sure almquist could of gotten a spot somewhere

We don't know what's said behind closed doors , for all we know we might of told him if he came down he'd be a top 6 and get playing time ... And again none of us know how it's like to leave everyone you love behind in the country you were born to go play in an American hockey league so you can get to the nhl

Add to that he felt like it was pointless being there if he was gonna keep getting scratched .... At least he wasn't demanding to go straight to the nhl like some players do , he was willing to come work his game in the ahl , just not wit on his ass

He won't be be the last player to leave the ahl to go back home ... Just think he deserved more of a chance than a vet dman who will never be in the nhl

Grand Rapids is the wings prospects developmental team .... Not an old folks home for nhl failures to steal spots ... That's the way I see it ... Obviously you need some but if it comes to a vet or a promising player shouldn't even be close

That being said we need to make a spot for frk as well

What he did in a 10 game stretch last year is irrelevant to what he's done this year.  If he was better this year, he would have been playing.  He was sitting instead, and hat tells me that he's dropped off.  This is what Holland and Blashill said this year.

Holland: Ive been in the game since 1975 in pro hockey, for 10 years as a minor league goaltender. Adversity and competition are wonderful things, and learning to fight through the adversity, learning to fight through the competition, learning to compete every day in practice and wait for your opportunity to get in the lineup and take somebodys job, thats what weve tried to build the Red Wings on."

Blashill: What Ive talked to him about is making sure that when he gets his opportunities, hes ready to play great, Blashill said. Thats the No. 1 thing he can control is his play. He cant control my decision on who to play.

2 things stick out to me in those quotes.  First, Backman wasn't prepared to play at a high level when he did play.  Second, he doesn't deal well when things aren't going his way.  If you can't do those things, I don't care how talented you are, you're not an NHL player.

Ken holland is a great gm but he was a scrap as an nhl player ... 3 games , drafted in the 12 th round .... He never really had a chance , so he's basically nathan paetsch .... Backman is a talented young defensemen who won awards and championships in his country who should of been given ice time to improve his game in North America

How's he suppose to improve sitting on his ass ? He's young and needs to play , not play once a month

You're not gifted anything as a pro.  Check out the Oilers if you want to see the product of that.

Big difference between getting a spot on an ahl team when your a highly ranked prospect so you can learn and develop your game and when you go straight to the nhl and thrown into the fire , not the same at all

He should of gotten some playing time over the vets who have no future with detroit

#2554753 Tomas Tatar Appreciation Thread

Love our kids and future prospects .... I laugh at my friends all the time when they say wings are done and how I should finally be a habs fan (been saying this for yrs now)

Nyquist Tatar sheahan jurco .... And they got no idea how many more great young kids we got coming
