    Respect Babcock and Holland

I have a ton of respect for Holland, not Babcock. A lot of the problems surrounding the team are due to Babcock, not Holland. Although I do concede that Holland is the GM and should put his foot down, a lot of fans do not realize how much influence Babcock has in regards to what players come in and what players go out. For recent examples, Hudler, Filppula, and Brunner are all gone because of Babcock. A close friend of mine who works within the team told me that Fil left because he was done playing for Babcock. You can take that how you wish. Hudler and Brunner, I think everyone knows why they are gone...of course I'm much less upset about Brunner being gone than Hudler, because Jiri was an extremely underrated asset...or maybe I'm just sensitive to the string of shootout losses. As far as players coming in, Babcock was, as everyone knows, influential in bringing Cleary back and he also had a say in the Quincey signing. Obviously, both of LGW's whipping boys. I do believe there is a bit of a power struggle between Holland and Babcock and our lack of identity is being shown by that. I also believe Babcock is not the coach to take this team forward. But that is up for extreme debate.

Osgood to fill in Larry Murphy's job

I think I'll rather enjoy Ozzie in the both. Great personality obviously. Think Draper would be a good pickup for the Fox team too.

Franzen: "I am not a goal scorer"

The real problem is that people expect him to be a 40 goal scorer, when he simply is not (Well that and we expect him to be a goal per game player like he was in the 08 playoffs). It's quite the anomaly. Even Mickey Redmond refers to him as a 40 goal guy, but check his stats, at 33, he's never scored that much. Hell, he's only scored over 30 goals once. Moral of the story, perhaps people need to change their expectations of how much this guy scores. He's a high 20 goal scorer. Couple that with an average of 20 assists and it doesn't seem as bad as people make it out to be. I do think he will largely benefit from playing with workhorses like Weiss or Alfie though. Guys who aren't afraid to get a little dirty while he gets himself into prime scoring positions (and when you can shoot the puck like him, that's pretty much anywhere).
  4. Biggest pet peeve: People who call Datsyuk "Dats". Nobody ever calls him Dats. Always Pav

    USA Olympic '14 Jerseys

My only two complaints are the fake laces and the logo, otherwise it's....decent?

    Datsyuk Robbed

I'm sure seeing how he's only there a few months out of the year, nothing sentimental was taken. I think I've read before that he keeps that stuff at his home in Detroit. Don't quote me on that though. Anyway, very unfortunate

The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings

San Jose takes care of Dallas, but Minny pulls out a win against LA. Win tonight and we are in eighth and a point behind seventh

    Damien Brunner - Value? Comparables?

Keep in mind this is Brunner's first season in North America. Age is irrelevant. This summer he'll be on the Wings training program and put on some meat. I think he'll do just fine in this league.

    Red Wings lack offensive creativity

Bottom line is Tomas Tatar should be on this team. The Red Wings brass is too loyal to their players. Dan Cleary would be in the press box on 29 other teams

The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings

I still feel like people don't realize that we actually played well last night. They only had 17 shots, remember. We put on 34. We Were buzzing. Not much you can do about a goalie standing on his head.
  15. Update: Minnesota added to the mix. Here's how it shapes up with three games remaining. Minnesota Wild: 53 4/26 Edmonton 4/27 @Colorado Columbus Blue Jackets: 51 4/25 @ Dallas 4/27 Nashville Dallas Stars: 48 4/25 Columbus 4/27 Detroit Detroit Red Wings: 50 4/24 Los Angeles 4/25 Nashville 4/27 @ Dallas Standings: 1. St. Louis - 54 7. Minnesota - 53 (25-18-3, ROW 21) 8. Columbus - 51 (22-17-7, ROW 17) 9. Detroit - 50 (21-16-8, ROW 19) 10. Dallas - 48 (22-20-4, ROW 20) ---------------------------------------- Well. Three games remaining. One point behind the seventh and eight places with a game in hand on Columbus. Looks like all eyes will be on Dallas, TX Thursday night when the Jackets and Stars play each other. The best scenario for us would be for that game to be decided by a shootout. I think Minny is trending downward and though they have a much easier schedule than Columbus, Detroit, and Dallas, I wouldn't be surprised if they fell out.
