Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?
Vladifan replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
The big question here is (and another one WE have no control over) is how soon and how much the young'ns will be played. The hierarchy has to be willing to to throw 'em in there and hope they do more than float. -
Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?
Vladifan replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
I like the way you discuss things. You don't personally attack anyone and you keep it on topic. But when you say that any posters here are saying "Holland can do no wrong", that's just not true. Nobody here has said that. I think most of those who may not agree with you are just throwing in other factors that also affect the future of the Red Wings and their status. Peace out. -
Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?
Vladifan replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
Barring serious, long-term injuries, I think this team has a chance to look very good on the ice. Real, tangible priorities revolve around chemistry and how good the young'ns will get and how soon. So in my mind a lot of the above discussion and opinions are gonna be put on hold until I see how the team literally plays out. What's to hurt? What's not to gain? We nor Holland have any control over the cap; owners who won't even talk to us, and where potential players ultimately want to go. Cup's at least half full at this point. -
Damn! Beat me to it, WingsAlways!

I was thinking along the same lines; like maybe those doctors include some bionic-type specialists? Then again, to me it's more of a "backbone" issue.

That kind of comment is totally irrelevant to the topic and is way off base. That kind of commentary needs to stop right here and now.

I don't agree with that saying on any level. And that's a pretty easy thing to say (and think) about Holland and the Red Wings until you look at all the angles involved. We're not talking about one single move. It's like the chaos theory, or a domino effect. It's real easy for us to second-guess when we sit here at our computers and sip our coffee or beer. We don't have to worry our pretty little heads about the upcoming effect of the CBA; how new players will mesh with the vets; where the money really needs to go and to who; the absolute, greedy insanity of some of the offers made and accepted; and above all, parity. It has reared its ugly but determined head and there is no way around it. It is not going away. Probably ever. So I suggest that some of us work on some perspective between what we want as fans and what we're realistically gonna get. And will have to deal with. And as fans, to try to keep the faith rather than only coming up with negatives.

Reminder: Personal attacks, trolling will not be tolerated
Vladifan replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Again, you have a remedy if you think you're being personally attacked. Rather than being nailed yourself for retaliating, REPORT it. Personally, I have problems with posters who are passive aggressive. They gouge and dig and get sarcastic and then when confronted by those in charge, they back off saying something like, "Who? Me?" Lastly - it's usually a telltale sign of insecurity and a sense of inferiority if you personally attack someone in response. That's true on these boards. It's true in politics, and in everyday life. It makes YOU look bad. Not the other guy. -

Before responding to a post or comment please read and understand its gist thoroughly, asking for clarification if necessary. Avoid personal attacks against individuals but practice criticism of ideas. The focus should be on increasing our combined knowledge, not on putting people down. Disagree without being disagreeable. Defend your opinions without being defensive. Avoid posting sexually suggestive material or using language considered impolite in public settings. Avoid making racially prejudiced, bigoted or hateful remarks of any sort. Avoid making assumptions about other people. Be informed about common logical fallacies before challenging the arguments put forth by others. I just changed browsers from Mozilla to Google Chrome and everything is going bonkers here including format and font. Sorry if this is difficult to decode! Meanhile, the Above was in the same link Matt copied and I thought it was good stuff too. I'm outta here! -
I whooped out loud when the Kings won as best comeback team. I was pleasantly shocked that voters realized what it took for them to get where they got. On the other hand, to see the Heat picked as the best team showed a lack of perspective . I don't like 'em anyway, so that might have entered in. Meanwhile, whoever writes Espn's material (both commercials and the script for this show) does a helluva job. The NHL could learn from him/her/them.

Except for an obvious troll or two and a wee bit of bent toward personal attacks, this thread stands out to me as a model for how hot subjects can and probably should be discussed on these boards. The majority of you are to be commended for sticking to facts and for attacking the argument instead of the person. My take is that Holland is very good at his job - in fact one of the best at what he does. But parity is rearing its ugly but democratic head. About the only immediate consolation is that every team will ultimately be affected by it. It's painful to witness, but perspective and faith can be helpful.

This may be the most sensible reaction to date. Thanks for the perspective.

NHL network just included Zach Parise in the deal to Minnesota. Don't know the terms. Don't care.

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild
Vladifan replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
If it's true that the Wild contingent picked up Suter's agent on the way to visit him, that does not look at all good. I'd love to be wrong on this. Please tell me there's something I don't understand about how these things work.- 487 replies

Oh puhleeeze on the fiancee thing. According to one source he hadn't talked to her recently so I'm thinking she's not exactly his #1 priority. No, it ain't always the woman's fault.- 487 replies

One-year, two-way contract. I wish him good fortune. Watched him play here in Texas and he was good!

He was indeed a feisty little s***.

Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running
Vladifan replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
Bottom line. It's his decision, whatever his reasons are. I get uptight about a lot of things but not this kind of thing. He has to be seriously considering where he's going to be the happiest and most fulfilled, with a chance at the Cup. If it were just the money, he would have made his decision when all the offers were first thrown in his face. Granted, it's a quality problem, but he has every right to take his time sorting it out. Not Slitherin! Not Slitherin! -
