All in all, good defensive performance, although that 4 on 3 was scary, but the PK was real solid. I'm surprised that Chara wasn't always in front of hte net on boston PP. On Ericsson giveway i was like: "oh no!!! last year is haunting us".... Then i've watch the effort which clearly was a Team effort. All in all wings looked good, even kindl wasn't so bad. Shame we didn't see much of nyquist, but maybe putting him with helm is a wish to keep speedy lines... although i'd have switched franzen with goose.

Reminds me of the Grind line, they were efficient in enforcing pretty much every thing, so gritty and so protective (especially mc carty). Otoh back then we had star players that could handle themselves (shanny, Hull,...). Yes we need to find this kind of spirit back, because even our enforcers' line is not that intimidating as it used to be.

I've lived 2 years in Philly, and what you say is totally true. All major sports structures are there, not far from the airport, not far from the highway and south downtown at a start/end of a subway line, making it even more easy to schedule trains the day of an event. I expect that the same sort of things in Detroit would be great, especially if it is not that out of downtown. Hearing how bad has been the crisis for the city, maybe launching a new complex like this would help re-establish some prospering trends. Wait and see. If the Wings get a new home I do hope they'll get a new face, a more gritty one

I think this falls right into the problem Wings had the past few years. The kids development program is too good! When they get the try in the NHL some of them are even better than expected then making themselves really important to the team. As most of the time, veterans have multi year contracts, youngsters are forced to stay in the minors, leading then to this kind of conflict when re-signing them. Quincey should never had those big contracts. One year should have been enough. Maybe KH is just playing with the fear of losing too many players due to injury like last year.
