I wouldn't have been shocked if Abby or Bert were suspended for those hits, but I wouldn't cry foul if they were. I thought the Raffi Torres hit wasn't that bad behind the net, neither the Downie one (except he left his feet, charging would have been fine) Cooke never elbowed Savard.... And Thornton's hit was textbook blindside. like I said in the beginning, i can see why Ruutu was suspended, but I wouldn't have been upset if he wasn't. Kunitz I think we all agree with that he should have had the same penalty as Cooke's elbow late in the season.

Maybe try and get Danny Markov for the back end to help us overspend for players who think they are worth more than they are.

I agree with a lot of what you said, hockey needs it's physicality, but I guess we just differ on headshots. Just out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on the Joe Thornton headshot during this season and the Matt Cooke on Savard a while back? Helm in the past 3 games has taken out 3 players without hitting the players head, if a 5'10" 180 soaking wet player can delivery crushing blows without going after the head, other players can too ala Kronwall's hits as well.

Basically think of the Selke. What's sexier (in the voters eye) a guy who plays lights out defense and pots 40 points or a guy who scores 90 points and plays pretty good defense? Now apply that to the entrie NHL. Two guys have 10-12 PIMS but one has 100 points and the other has 50. MSL definitely exemplifies this award, but so does Lidstrom. There are maybe 5 guys in the NHL that I know would never goon it up ever, two play for the Wings and one is MSL.

Well I respect your opinion but I like these headshot rules (I wish they were more strict so they could actually curb the hits). You're seeing retired football players dying earlier because their brains are goo. We were naive about concussions because of the research out there, now we know, unfortunately what even one headshot and concussion can do to you, let alone multiple. I think if there was only black and white rules with harsh punishments, there would be a lot less griping. The matt Cooke suspension was a great start to ramping up the punishments, but the Kunitz leniency on a similar hit to Cookes was a major step back. Edit: didn't have your edit up. It was late, albeit only by 60% of what is deemed in the zone of finishing your check. .5 and lower is deemed ok.

If you can get suspended for taunting a player with a BJ sign during a regionally broadcasted game, how do you not get suspended for taunting fans by giving them the bird on national TV? Sidenote: I thought both instances were high-larious.

What was the reason for the suspension? For blindside or head hit or injurying a player on an interference. I know there is some rule if you injury a guy on some call (boarding, interference, high stick?) it's an auto one gamer. I say well after because he made the pass and it seemed a lot of time (.5 or .8, doesn't matter, just by the look of it it looked like more time than normal) went by before the hit. It's a hit that didn't need to be made and it looked high enough to me, looked like it was to the head.

Erat didn't sell it, he never made it back to the game and in other replays and sort of this one, he does target the head. One game suspension is fine, anything more I wouldn't have liked it. Plus, this hit was well after the pass (interference was the penalty), it reminds me of the hit on Hudler a couple playoffs ago. And Ruutu is a repeat offender as well. Sidenote: Erat isn't playing tonight due to the hit. If he didn't get suspended, i would have been ok with it and this one game suspension is ok by me also. I like the objectivity in the title, though

The guys a beast. If he was on the East coast, everyone would know his name. He's a lot like Rafalski in so many ways, just faster...he's even from Michigan Plus with Hickey and Forbort and even Voynov, they might be willing to deal Martinez.

Every team also gets a chunk of that TV revenue, that's why the cap would be going up.
