Nylander is following in the footsteps of his father...He's a good player - not a great player (yet), and wants his $$$. He's probably wanting more $$$ than Larkin, but IMHO Larkin is the better of the two.

The way I see it is the Wings will still miss the playoffs, and chances are we'll have a reasonably good chance at picking in the top 5. This team needs these stretches of success in order to tolerate the losses which will eventually come as well. -

I too didn't watch the game last night (taking a nap before going to work). Anywho - as much as I want to see us got the 1st overall pick - I don't want the cost being the Red Wings looking like an amateur club going up against legit NHL rivals...Truth be told I want them to win, and compete to the best of their ability (as it's been noted by many others - I don't want a losing culture, and tanking doesn't always guarantee success down the road). Chances of us making the playoffs are slim at best already, and maybe we finish mid 20's like we have the past 2 seasons, but this time we land ourselves a better pick rather than sliding down. Wins like last night really gives them hope that better times lie ahead. -

Is AA walking on water? And yes - thank you for the devil horns...No graffiti is complete without some. -
I was under the impression that Howard would be traded this season, and then re-signed this summer, but I've been wrong before. If Rask's leave of absence were in fact for a childbirth - we'd probably have heard sumthin about it, but with it being 'hush hush' it could be anything from a family member in poor health to personal addiction issues...Bruins HF Boards make it sound as though it's sumthin more than what most would expect. Anywho - hope the best for the guy - he seems like a decent fellow.

Bruins netminder Rask taking a personal leave of absence...Makes me think if this might be long term...Howard in a Bruins sweater?

Umm - you forgot the devil horns on his head... -
Thoughtful response...Well done. EDIT - to add...Just think if there wasn't a cap how many more Cups the Hawks could have won with the guys they had to move over the last several years...
-
So let me ask...How many coaches won the Cup with a piss-poor team? Kinda like asking how many netminders are in the Hockey HoF that had never won the Cup...

As a owner of a lil'hound - I approve of this message.
-
Outta curiosity - how many 'overrated' coaches find their way into the Hockey HoF? I ask because most 'experts' feel that's where he'll be when he retires.

All kidding aside - did the players really give a poor rating to the Uber driver? -

I agree that the chance of Coach Q wanting to come to Detroit is pretty slim at best, but my point being is that there's nothing keeping Holland from picking up the phone, and if you REALLY want to improve the coaching staff Holland should do it now rather than 2, or 3 years from now when the team is going in the right direction. If Blashill is still the coach in a few years, and the team is looking like a playoff contender - then I'd just assume keep him rather than cutting him loose.
-
I honestly don't recall being one who clamored for Blashill taking over for Babs (but you're more than welcome to prove me wrong by scouring past threads from 3 plus years ago). As for Coach Q being overrated - well that's just like your opinion man...
-
Just like the sound guy needs to play 'Low Rider' when Cholo scores a goal...He needs to play 'Still Dre' when lil'Bert scores cuz he gangsta!

...or relocate the franchise to QC. -
Absolutely! I find it interesting as to how some will say that 'Blash is good with the kids'...WTF does that mean? These are young adults - not 12 yr olds. Then in the same breath they'll say 'we need Blash right now, but when the Wings turn things around, and get good again - that's when we hire a guy like Coach Q'... Okay then - the problem is a guy like Coach Q may not be available when this team turns things around. On top of that - while I'm not too concerned about 'feelings' - what does that tell Blashill if he in fact does get this team heading into the right direction, and then he gets the boot because the mgt feels he's not good enough from that point forth? If you're gonna replace a guy like Blashill for Coach Q - you do it right now, or you don't do it at all.
