I believe we really need 1 last opportunity to nab a quality player with a pick somewhere between 5 thru 10 (at least having more options to choose from - for all we know Yzerman/Verbeek/scouts might feel the 'BPA' could be some kid that's listed #7, or #8 overall by the likes of Button/McKenzie). I agree it's great to see this young team coming together, but in the long run is making the playoffs, or finishing 11th or higher in our best interest?

I personally believe every player listed is capable of staying in Detroit as long as their contract demands are reasonable and they're willing to accept lesser roles on the team when 'better' players are acquired and get more ice time. Every forward on that list is a 3rd/4th liner, and Hronek a 2nd pair Dman. I personally never saw it - those flashes of a top line sniper...

While I agree here - however the only way for this to take place is for Aldrich to have a criminal record and the Blackhawks execs, or Beach had the ability to make this happen.

Wouldn't the BoG and NHLPA respectively have to purge them from office? In a weird twist I find Beach/Chevy in a similar position back in 2010...If Beach decides to go to the police his career is certainly threatened (keeping in mind as an adult he could've gone to the authorities on his own accord)...If Chevy speaks out in the meeting he too risks getting booted outta the old boys club thus never becoming a GM with the Jets.

I'm always amazed at the number of exec and coaching positions ie: special assistant to the GM, video coach, skills coach, etc. All of those in that meeting are done like Thanksgiving turkey and it's spilled over on to a handful of players. Having the handsome brute Marc Bergevin active in the league is good for the league.

Joke's on you - the team jet (actually the Canadian teams charter thru Air Canada) is in San Jose so you're flying coach with a stop in Atlanta 1st. EDIT - I sorta feel for Chevy considering he's likely not the one who came up with the idea of sweeping it under the rug while Assist GM in Chicago...In that meeting you have the Pres/VP/GM/Head Coach out ranking him (apparently Coach Q was noted being the most concerned about the incident being disruptive as they were on their way thru the Western Conference Championships)...Probably sat in the corner, nodded politely, and kept his opinions to himself...Certainly guilt by association though which will likely cost him his job.
