This one's for you 'Chops... Considering how bad the Wings are, how 'meh' the league has been with the on ice product (although the firings of coaches has been entertaining)...This renewed 'Old School' Battle of Alberta is the best thing IMHO for the league in terms of gaining outsiders interest. Being that it's on a Wednesday night - would it not be fun if it was televised on NBC Sports instead of the scheduled Preds @ Caps, and Bolts @ Kings? People might actually tune in, and give a f**k.

I'd expect a few runs will be made at Tkachuk - by Kassian, and/or Nurse, and maybe some guy they call up from the AHL And yeah - Tkachuk gonna Tkachuk...Pi$$ing off the Oilers, and the fans since the game on the 29th will be in Edmonton. I'm sure 'Frankenstein' (aka Oilers owner Katz), and Holland will host Bettman, and Co in Katz' suite since this has the potential for a resurrection of '80s era rivalry. Poor linesman gets knocked on his keester when the melee ensues.

I'd love to have a team full of Tkachuk types. I believe his only 'knock' is that his skating is rather average by today's standards, but otherwise his skill/hockey sense is top notch.

Haven't heard/read much if anything...Probably having a good laugh knowing Tkachuk is in Kassian's head.

No matter how you see things - many current/former players, and fans share a similar opinion that if a guy is gonna run around like what we saw with Raffi Torres years ago - a rival player, or the league will step in. In this case the Dept of Player Safety didn't...

Usually I'd be rooting for the Flames, but not for the games on the 29th, and Feb 1st. I enjoy Tkachuk's game (as I do Marchand) - however he needs to answer for taking runs at a guy who unlike Doughty knows how to fight. He looks like a crazy mo-fo...

As you well know by now that I don't have a problem with guys standing up for themselves, or for a teammate, but Mantha's injuries are almost freakish in nature. Mantha's odds of getting injured in a fight are higher than ours staying in the top 3 with the upcoming lottery.

I don't believe the league can completely remove dirty play from the game...They already penalize players along with fines/suspensions. I like heated hard hitting nasty hockey...I remember my 1st Milwaukee Admirals game back in 1978 - was some crazy $hit back then, and things are much more tame these days.
