Indeed. Apparently that is a trait of his. He may not be a 80 plus pts centerman at the NHL level, but he's 1 of those who will be a sound choice wearing the 'A' in Detroit when the time comes. -

The day before last years draft the 'panel' on NHL Sirius XM they discussed how mature/poised/leadership qualities this kid has...Apparently his billet families, coaches, teammates, etc gush over how great he is - as in just a 'quality' human being, a natural leader, an on ice warrior. I'm thinking by his 3rd season he's gonna make the 10 plus teams regret passing on him in the draft. -

Maybe it's me being sentimental, but Dats was an elite player in his prime...Nielsen was never anything close to that. I'm of the opinion (be it right, or wrong) that Dats continues to be the better of the two at this stage of their careers. I expect Dats to be a bit slower, but his hockey IQ, and hands should still be there.

To the bold...That's probably an accurate estimate. Being a fan of Dats I'm probably a bit too generous claiming he'll play 70 to 75 games, and garnering 50 sumthin pts. Either way - I'd love to see him play a season, or two with the Wings before he hangs the skates up for good.

Truth be told - he'll be a little bit slower courtesy of his age, but I believe he'll still have his mental sharpness/edge for the game, and his hands/passing/shooting will still be well above average. IMHO he'll still be in the top 6 forward group, will play 70 - 75 games, and have a legit shot at 50, or more pts.

I could see Dats racking up 40 assists, or more with guys like AA (breakout speed), and Zads (his shot) on his line along with getting pp time.

Plans have changed...Millennial boys are more interested in their Iphones than girls. I still remember watching Yzerman's jersey retirement...All 3 of them looked pretty bored.

Truth be told - rooting for the 'local' team is a bit of a foreign concept to me since by far, and large I'm 99.9% Detroit Red Wing fan...Packers/Brewers/Bucks are all sorta 'meh ok'... Those back to back Cups in 97/98...I was so envious of those living in Michigan...Nobody here in WI (outside of myself, and maybe 4 to 6 others whom I played hockey with) gave 2 F**ks about hockey, or the NHL.

This is arguably 1 of the most interesting playoffs in quite some time...Has there ever been a Cup Finals involving 2 teams south of the Mason-Dixon line? What ratings would the league get if it were a Dallas/Carolina Finals?

Abdelkader now more than ever is a 3rd/4th liner...Especially when considering we have a impressive lil'Bert, and Mantha coming into their own, and both belong on the top 2 lines with ample pp time.

This. DD is a #4 to #6 Dman on just about any team in the NHL today...It just so happens that he's been given more ice time against the oppositions #1 line, and it shows because on any given night - he's our best guy back there. Abdelkader is/was nothing special...IMHO - he owes a lifetime of Tim Horton's gift cards to both Hank/Dats for making him look good, and for helping him fool Holland into that 8 yr albatross of a contract.

Death threats from 'Canadians'? Is that really a thing? What are they gonna do - smother you with pancakes, and drown you in maple syrup? Now...If these threats came from Preds fans - that would be different...I've been down there...Just outside the city limits you can here the banjo playing in the distance...
