I'm relatively certain that Babcock the coach and Datsyuk the player communicate. If they didn't one of them would no longer be part of the Red Wings. What they seemingly don't do is communicate through the press. -
There's no crying in hockey and I certainly don't believe in any referee bias. They miss things and sometimes let things go, but I don't believe it's based on bias. Smith was called in OT because his trip directly led to (or would have led to) a Wings scoring chance. You don't have to like it.

Do you have a link to that survey? That would be an interesting read. For some reason I just can't imagine every drunk driver reporting into some research team somewhere. The control groups must have been something else.

What old vets can be sold? Bertuzzi, Sammy, Emmerton, Eaves, Cleary, and Tootoo all pretty much have negative value to any other teams because they'd have to pay them. You wouldn't get a draft pick for all of them combined. -
I'm pretty certain most here are more appreciative of Emmerton's contributions over that of Cleary's and Sammy's. Doesn't really change much of anything.

I don't know about "pointless". The OP asked what was wrong with Pavel, the link suggested undisclosed lower body injury ... thereby answering the question. The link also stated that: 1 - he has every intention of going to Sochi 2 - he cannot play for the Red Wings as of yet. 3 - a direct quote from Ken Holland of: "I don’t believe I have the authority or the power to prevent someone from going to the Olympics.” -

There are those who don't think he's injured at all. Or at least, he's healthy enough to be playing right now, but he's saving himself for Mother Russia. -
Though I'm ecstatic that Eaves scored the shootout goal last night, I'd suggest that 3 attempts is a pretty small sample size and not enough to suggest that he's one of the better shootout options. I would agree that there's not too many decent shootout options.

If the young forward will improve, isn't there also a likelihood that the young defencemen will as well? Or are forwards the only position players that get better with age?

IMO the odds are against the Wings extending their playoff streak. That being said, this game and Sunday's game are huge.
