Pistons no longer look invincible like they did most of the first half. The Mavs look invincible now...
-
Delk a Piston...good...nice insurance in case Lindsey gets hurt or just starts playing horribly for some reason. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2349608
-
according to detroit news, we should know today if delk will join pistons or not... http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../602280337/1127

I've heard rumors about Tony Delk, Travis Best, Howard Eisley, Anthony Goldwire, and Fred Hoiberg. Should happen pretty soon because Amir Johnson will be reporting to the NBDL on Monday. You know...I'll take any one of them. All are decent backups and veterans.

i have no explanation for it... all i know is, that stony said that millen mentioned to him that harrington's contract probably won't be restructured. said some stuff about it. then opened up the lines to sheer pandemonium. and during the segment, they did totally write of drew brees since harrington would be making so much money.
-
i wasn't part of the interview. i listened to stony and wojo a day or two ago...and stony said millen said he would not look to restructure. they then started fielding calls...and of course, several people thought millen was the dumbest person in the history of the world...and they started talking cap and joey...stony said millen mentioned that there may not be a cap any longer in 2 years...
-
i'm pretty fukin suck of hearing people ***** about mintues too! god damn, the starters are playing LESS than last year! for ***'s sake...they can handle the minutes...the minutes aren't a problem. we should have won the title last year...and our guys played MORE minutes last year. so quit whining about our starting five playing too many minutes...it's a NON-ISSUE!
-
The guys on WDFN reported that Millen stated Harrington's contract would NOT be renegotiated or restructured.
-
we should have had harrington restructure his contract...
-
guys on the radio were saying if they wanted a guy like mike james, they should have just traded for mike james and a pick instead of freaking cato and a pick. i mean...james is pretty much in the last of his contract too (player option)...
-
exactly! i still don't think we'll pick up a quality pg, i just don't think we have the chips to deal for a quality pg...i mean, we do...but we're not parting with any of the good chips. we might get a scrub pg...or we'll stick with hunter and acker. however...if we got brevin knight for nothing, i'd be ecstatic! he'd be a very high quality guy for a backup pg! good defender...good playmaker...usually plays pretty mistake free, safe game. he aint' gonna score much...but that's ok. claxton...not as good on defense. tyronn lue...better than claxton but i'd rather have knight...knight is a little smaller but more dependable than lue. even if we get know one...i think we'll still be in ok shape. hunter is fine as a 10 minute per game backup...and i'm interested to see what acker can do in a few minutes per game.
-
I have no problems with us not getting another pg... Hunter is fine. I know nothing about Acker, but his time will be very very limited...all he has to do is avoid messing up horribly.
-
well...the pistons are supposedly going after tyronn lue, speedy claxton, and brevin knight. i'd really like breven knight. but i don't see how we'd get any of these guys. lue and claxton are in their last years of their contract...but so is cato...so the trade would be pointless for the other team. from the pistons standpoing, none of them are worth a 1st round pick. maybe...MAYBE one of those teams will take one of our filth players. otherwise...we're looking at lindsey hunter and alex acker to get minutes. hunter may get 10 a game...and acker may get a few.

We're not absolutely destroyed at all! What sort of idiotic nonsense is that? Arroyo is nothing special...no team in the entire NBA would be destroyed by losing Arroyo, much less a team like the Pistons. And Darko...same thing...no team in the entire NBA would be destroyed in losing Darko, much less a team like the Pistons. Jason Kidd called Lindsey Hunter the best defender he's ever played against. Sure...maybe Lindsey isn't a offensive whiz...but that's ok. Tay, Rip, Delfino, and Lindsey are all perfectly capable of handling the ball when Chauncey takes a breather. You actually think we're DESTROYED by this trade? I'm sorry...that's the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. That's just hilarious. And you call salary cap non-sense?!?!?!?! Did you know that the Chicago Bulls have been SALIVATING at the idea of getting Ben Wallace in the off season? Do you know why the Bulls thought they could get Ben? Because the Bulls KNEW that the Pistons couldn't keep both Chauncey AND Ben...not with the way things were. Do you know what the Bulls are saying NOW? They're cursing their fortune because now they know the Pistons can keep both Ben and Chauncey with out any worries. And again...I ask you...WHAT THE *** can we trade for a GOOD backup point guard? NOTHING. All we can get is a scrub to backup Lindsey... Our ONLY hope would be finding a PG on the last year his contract where the team KNOWS the player won't be back...in which case, they might be willing to take whatever they can get...and it'll probably have to be with a non-playoff team. But even then...if the player is any good, I'd think they'd want more than the filth we can offer them.

Aussie, dont' be dumb enough to ever believe what a GM says. Fer cryin out loud...you're at a Red Wings site...you NEVER believe what comes out of a GM's mouth. I mean...Dumars is the same guy that said not too long ago that he still believes in Darko and sees Darko as part of the Pistons future. I know you're smarter than that. So use you're brain. Arroyo is gone...Darko is gone...Cato might not even make it here, and might just get waived, so he's probably gone. What on earth will we trade? Not trading Chauncey, Rip, Ben, Sheed, Tay. Can't trade Dice...he's Sheed and Ben's backup. Can't trade Delfino...he's Rip and Tay's backup. Can't trade Lindsay...because if you want a better point guard, you certainly won't get it by giving away a lesser point guard. We're not trading a pick...because we have no 1st rounder this coming draft...and we'll need to get a draft pick the following draft in the 1st to restock young talent. So what do you trade? Alex Acker? Dale Davis? Maurice Evans? Amir Johnson? Jason Maxiell? You won't get a good PG from those guys. The only PG we can get is some very low level player from the D-League...who will be someone that plays BEHIND Lindsey...or some scrub that's not on any team, which is also a player that would play BEHIND Lindsey. We simply don't have the goods to get a QUALITY point guard.
-
we're not getting another point guard...forget whatever you heard about jalen rose or mike james...or anyone else. we're standing pat.
-
I actually doubt we'll swing another deal for a backup pg. I think we'll stick with Lindsey Hunter. The idea is to free up cap space for two reasons...keep Ben Wallace (whose contract expires after this season) and keep Chaucey Billups (whose contract expires after next season but we'll probably give him an extension this off season). It'd be almost impossible to keep both Ben and Chaucney without freeing up a lot of money. The only we can do that and not miss anyone is getting rid of guys like Milicic and Arroyo. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2331049 The pick we get from them...Orlando wants to keep it if it's a top 7 pick, in which case we get their 1st rounder in the NEXT draft. If it's not a top 7 pick, Orlando would give the pick to us this draft. However...Dumars doesn't want protection all they down top #7...he wants to move the protection up further to give us a better chance of getting a good pick THIS season.
-
trading darko makes too much sense...we need to free up cap room for ben. so get rid of darko and arroyo...the two most expendable players that would actually give us some cap relief. and then we'll get another 1st round pick back...with which we can get another player with the potential to be a star. you lose NOTHING. you get to keep ben...and you get to replace one lottery pick (darko) with hopefully another lottery pick next year or the year after. and who cares about arroyo or cato. think of the alternative...we'd have to keep darko and arroyo...and potentially lose ben. is that what you want?
-
they're not playing any more minutes than they did last year...it's practically the same. but if you want to be nitpicky... in fact, hamilton is playing less...billups is playing less...ben is playing less. only tay and sheed are playing more minutes than last year...and only barely.
-
Kelvin Cato would be about $8.5 million worth of cap space. Dumars would shake hands with the Magic on the trade and be waiving Cato bye-bye with the other. A little something extra for signing Ben Wallace with, as well as for signing the first-rounder they'd now have from Orlando. And the Magic suck, so unless the pick is protected up to a certain point, it'll be a nice high one. A lottery one for sure. Basically look at it like this: We free up playing time for Lindsey Hunter by dumping Arroyo, who I think does a decent job, but nothing Hunter couldn't do (and less defense besides). Darko's not playing anyway, so the thing to do there is cut the losses and head back to the draft with a lottery pick from a crummy team to try again. Plus cap space for signing Big Ben, obviously it would be the stupidest thing in the world to let him walk. As a small added bonus, Acker, Maxiell, and Johnson get a little extra practice time against the big boys and move up slightly in the pecking order. And where the Magic would be picking, man, you can find some good stuff in the draft up that high. oh crap! that actually makes a lot of sense. me stupid. but i don't want a lottery protected pick from orlando! i want their 1st round next year, period!
-
the orlando magic are trying to move steve francis as part of a move to facilitate the arrival of carlos arroyo...cuz if they kept arroyo and francis, they'd have too many pg's. so this trade is seriously a possibility...the magic REALLY want it to happen and are taking steps... i really don't understand this trade for the pistons... i mean, we don't need kelvin cato...another center, do we? we got our big men in sheed, ben, dice, dale davis, and of course darko. what the heck do we need another lowpost big for? or are we just so fed up with darko that we just want the 1st round pick the magic are offering in addition to cato? i don't like it...
-
stones are 4-4 i think over the last eight...they've been looking shaky. we have a mere ONE GAME lead over the spurs for home court advantage throughout the playoffs. remember...the goal of the pistons during the regular season was to win home court...cuz they all believed they would have beat the spurs with home court advantage. in other news, WDFN reported that the orlando magic offere kelvin cato and a 1st round pick for carlos arroyo and darko milicic... i'd pass...

The Rams went 4-12 in 1998 and ranked 27th in total offense. Martz became their offensive coordinator in 1999, and they went 13-3, ranked first in total offense and won the Super Bowl. course, i also realize '99 was the year they discovered kurt warner, acquired marshall faulk, and drafted torry holt... also...i wish we got John Ramsdell as our qb coach...he was martz's qb coach of late...he was supposed to come to detroit, but when the martz/detroit deal went south he signed with san diego...dammit...if only he would have waited a little longer...
-
ford field if gorgeous! i love it!
-
he's also had the luxury of guys like torry holt, isaac bruce, and marshall faulk (when he was still awesome)...we don't have those caliber players...
