This thread title will be my new philosophy on Match.com

Man I took those losses hard back then. Didn't want to talk to anyone for days. Good old college days. '03 - was very embarrassing. We were the defending champs. We still had that HOF roster. We played against the Disney Ducks. Getting swept was the worst part of it all. I couldn't look anyone in the eye for some time after that. I think we could have gone past the other teams in the West, but we'd probably lose to Jersey. They had a great team that year. '04 - Got out of the first round, but that game 5 against the Flames screwed us. I still think we'd win the Cup if that puck doesn't hit Yzerman in the eye. San Hosay were playoff chokers who'd never get to the Finals. Tampa may have beaten us, but at least we'd be in the Finals. '06 - What a stinker this was. Yzerman's last hurrah was hard to watch. Roloson was like 50 years old and we made him look amazing. In turn, Lilja made Lidstrom look like Aki Berg on that pairing. Having Draper on the top line was a joke. Maybe this was the worst of the three considering it was the third choke in a row. We'd probably lose to Anaheim in the following round, though. They had our number. Looking back at it, all the teams we lost to went to game 7 of the SCF so there's something to be proud of. Also, I always thought the WIngs would be harder to beat if they got out of the early rounds. We'd do better against established teams than teams full of no-name jobbers relying on some super goalie. Too bad we never got to find out. Oh and Shanahan was awful in all those playoffs. Probably the main reason the team didn't keep him.

Then Mario Lemieux visited in 2005 and cock teased everyone into thinking there'd be an NHL team in KC. Didn't know you ever lived in KC. Interesting.

The Rangers should trade him to a Detroit newspaper. If that writer thinks Boyle was bad defensively......................

Boys from the Urals are tougher. -
It could have been worse.

If the car was a Lamborghini, it would be easier on the eyes. Are Jeeps that popular in Brooklyn? -
After watching our performance during those 5 games, I'd be willing to throw 10 mil at Kyle Calder.

Pretty much. I've lived in towns before where reporters never asked tough questions of their coaches. As a fan, I hated that. Boyle is an athlete and getting criticized for bad play is not out of line. I haven't read all the reporter wrote about him, but as long as there were no personal attacks on Boyle or his family, he's fair game.

You've never lived in KC. Those trolls are everywhere and constantly brag about their team (even though they've never won s***). Not to mention, they hate the Wings. No reason any Wings fan should root for them. You think they rooted for Detroit during any of our playoffs series against other teams? Hell no.

Vassili Zaitsev? I guess we do need a sniper, so why the hell not. -
Idiots. The best thing about their team historically are the colors and logo. Peter Worrell is rolling over in his grave.

Free Press: Pavel Datsyuk to return to Russia following Playoffs
GMRwings1983 replied to jdwheelz's topic in General
The more I think about it, I'm glad he's leaving. He played at such a high level in his career, that it was hard watching him play this season. It would be like some retired pro wrestler making a comeback and looking like dirt. Datsyuk is leaving at the right time. I don't want to see him look any worse than he did this season. That's why watching Zetterberg and Kronwall will be even worse next season. They'll be one year older. -
If Holland were an ancient Japanese samurai (in other words, a man with honor), he'd commit seppuku to atone for his disgrace to the Ilitch family and the fanbase. Alas, those kinds of men don't exist anymore.

ECSF : New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Someone mentioned this last night, but I remember this happening before. Maybe I was thinking of the NBA? -
They haven't won it all because the Gods hate them. The Stars have never won a legitimate Cup, so they have something to prove also. I suggest you change your avatar to a Scott Parker Sharks avatar and root for Joe and the boys to bring a Cup to Silicon Valley.
-
How can some of you still root for the Blues? They're not playing the Hawks anymore. Go Stars!

LOL. Very funny. I'd rather have Ericsson than Hedman.

I can't root for a team that has the ugliest building in hockey history to watch on TV. I want the Islanders (or that Jeep) out of the playoffs ASAP. -
Ownership shows Support for Kenny Holland

You don't believe he used his Swedish Mafia connections to get more icetime? -
If this were Medieval England, France, Spain, Russia, etc, Holland would be losing his head. This is not news, BTW. I thought I remember hearing about this story years ago.

WCQF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. St. Louis Blues
GMRwings1983 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
You think a one line team like the Isles will beat the Michelin Man? Only reason they got past a more talented Florida team was that team's lack of experience. The Lightning are an experienced team. And Washington doesn't score playoff goals. Period. Holtby has ridiculously good playoff numbers in his career, but has a 20-20 record. Blues vs. Stars will be close. I like Dallas, but I can see St. Louis winning. -

I can't see three of those teams making the Conference Finals. Sharks probably will. -

If not for Bill Ranford, it'd be 3 in a row.
