This might be the biggest defense we've had in 15 years physically. It didn't matter in the past because we had skill from small guys like Rafalski, Lidstrom and Schneider. Skill is now missing, but the soft attitude is the same, regardless of how big some of our defensemen are.

If we miss the playoffs, I could care less. May as well clean house. He's better off playing in Russia with Kovalchuk than having Richards and Helm as linemates. Nah, that would be too bandwagonish. They've already won a few Cups. Florida has a cool mascot, Jaromir Jagr and a bunch of young euros with skill (like we used to have).

Holland must have overlooked how his team choked in 2003, 2004 and 2006 against teams that were never heard of after those seasons. Anything can happen in one series or one year. It's what you do every year that counts. This team has been bounced in the first round three of the last four seasons. The one time we weren't we won game 7 on the road against Anaheim, and then fell apart against Chicago. The last three seasons have shown that 2013 was a fluke (almost) playoff run. Not a building block for success. Holland can go eat s***.

Yeah, Nyquist and Tatar have shown this season that their ceiling is not that high. The league has figured them out and they haven't improved like Datsyuk and Zetterberg did every year at their age. We haven't really developed any defensemen who are top level. We were lucky Dekeyser joined the Wings, but I don't think he's ever going to be solid offensively. Kronwall never filled in well for Lidstrom as a number 1.

Wrestlemania 32 might be more exciting than this game.

Holland should resign after the season. The ownership won't fire him and hopefully he's big enough to realize it's the right thing to do. He needs to stop taking advantage of the Ilitch family and his immunity.

So you don't think Mrazek has completely fallen apart? He doesn't look anywhere near how he looked earlier this season. I don't remember us leading the league in goals around Christmas.

We don't have the talent to score lots of goals and be a higher seed. So yes, the goalies have to be better. If Mrazek wants to play for a better team, he's more than welcome to ask for a trade. I won't lose any sleep based on the mental weakness he's showed.

If I were the new GM, the first thing I'd do is wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. See my post on the prior page about 8 seeds entering the playoffs. Goaltending has to be the key to winning for such teams.

I got news for you. When we played 7 and 8 seeds in the first round every year (back when we were good), those teams were carried by their goalies. That's how they even made the playoffs. Teams that are lower seeds don't score lots of goals. They have to rely on defending and goaltending. Mainly goaltending.

Doesn't help when Sheahan missed an open net that could have turned this game. He's the biggest pansy on this team. An even bigger pansy than Franzen, who came from a country with a different style of play. Sheahan is just a flat out disgrace to North American hockey.

At one time, this idiot was leading the league in GAA and save percentage. What a total collapse from him mentally. At this point, I wouldn't mind if he hangs out with Jim Carey the rest of his life.

This man is a professional athlete.

Sheahan should be sent down to GR to work on his offensive skills.
