Smart play by Datsyuk. Put the puck on net. No reason to get fancy.

"The powerplay is our enforcer" - Ken Holland I compared him to a car you buy that ends up being a lemon.

I would have grabbed Rofl and started pounding away.

They're getting chances, but Philly is relaxing on a two goal lead. I want to see goals, not cockteasing scoring chances.

It's good to see a goalie that can make a save for a change. Too bad it's not for our team.

How about not fielding a lineup where 1/3 of the players belong in the minors?

I wish Z did that to Rasko Dumbass. LOL at Flyers fans. Bunch of cheese steak eating douches.

The Flyers are playing like a team that believes it can win every game. The Pens have the best player in the league and have more talent than us. I don't see the Wings making it ahead of these teams. We've got no belief right now and looks slow and uninspired. There needs to be a Euro purge in the offseason.

I think Bernie Sanders has had a better night than Brendan Smith.

He's 6'3 and weights 191 pounds. Doesn't fight. Only in Detroit.

Can Glenfiddich win a ******* faceoff in his own zone? Two goals from lost faceoffs. And why are we being owned by some jobber named ROFL?

Nice pass Ericsson. And you wonder why this team isn't going to the playoffs. How many boneheads like this do the Flyers or Pens have on their rosters?

That's the Flyers feed. Don't you recognize Bill Clement's voice? Are you forgetting that Jurco and Pulkinnen are even more useless?

Our GM traded a 1st round pick for a player who has come to be known as KFQ. That's all you need to know about our transition game.

I didn't believe in abortion until I watched this game. This entire team is an embarrassment to this fanbase. Kenny Holland needs to stop fleecing the old, comatose man and resign. He won't be fired so he needs to do the right thing. I'll pay your legal fees.

How many games have we won in Philly since the 1997 SCF?

When was this? Last year we were 10th, but that was largely inflated by our powerplay. The year before we were 15th. This year we're 23rd, but our best players are getting older and their games have dropped off. Guys like Nyquist and Tatar are no longer newcomers and aren't surprising people. The rest of the league has caught on to their weaknesses. There's no rhyme or reason for our defense to score goals. Too many plugs back there. Green is basically like a car you buy that ends up being a lemon. Kronwall looks done also. We have too many plugs playing top 6 roles, like Helm and Abdelkader. Look at this team on paper and tell me where the goals should come from. Blashill is responsible for a lot of the powerplay woes, but the lack of talent and aging of the players is not primarily his fault.

That's true also. But we're not handling it as well as our GM's reputation suggests we should. Seems like Holland surrounded himself with smart people who are now in other places having more success than him.

I disagree. We're not all that talented. Yeah, we have some european players who can make fancy dekes, but that by itself isn't everything. The responsibility starts at the top. We have an owner and a family that is apathetic and more focused on their stupid baseball crap. The GM has immunity at his job and has lost his touch. The coaches are the next party to blame on the totem pole. Even so, the coaches can only coach with what they're given. You think Blashill wants to coach a team that has Abdelkader on its top line? You think he likes having Ericsson playing on the top defensive pair? You think he's happy about having a bunch of small, soft forwards on the team? When most of the pieces suck, you can rearrange them all you want, but the final product will still have many holes. Every line combo you see on LGW has a hole on just about every line. Why do you think that is?

Completely Random HHOF Thought - Non-Wings

I feel like there are differences from 2002 to now. I can't see a Gillies type making it now. Today's inductees from the 80's are guys that put up inflated stats, like Housley and soon to be, Andreychuk. Gillies isn't the type to make it in 2016. Big numbers are more valued now, especially from the 80's. That brings me to Makarov. Makarov was a pretty good player as soon as he came to America. He was in his early 30's and had to adjust to a new league/country. At that time, players in their early 30's weren't as well conditioned as they are nowadays. He handled it very well. He dominated the Russian league and was great in international competitions. Like I said, he made an impact in the NHL. Unfortunately, a few years into his career he was already in his mid 30's. It's not the NHL Hall of Fame, but the Hockey Hall of Fame. His overall career needs to be more respected by the voters. He's easily the best retired player not in the Hall right now. Instead, they give it to Phil Housley this past year.

Lindros will get in for sure. Neely getting in before him was kind of a shock considering that Lindros had a better career that also ended early. I'm guessing his attitude and the expectations everyone had before his career even started hurt him. His attitude doesn't have a great reputation. Gillies made it in a different era and played on the top line on 4 straight Cup winners. In retrospect, he wouldn't get in nowadays, but they don't remove people from the HOF (only the WWE does that). Here's another one. Will Sergei Makarov (likely the best winger of the 1980's) ever get into the HHOF?
