Pretty sure that won't be a legit argument. More like the other way around. You do have to look at records in context, though. Nothing wrong with that. A few years ago, Brodeur broke Parent's streak of 47 wins in a season. However, back then, there were no overtimes, let alone shootouts. Are you going to tell me there shouldn't be somewhat of an asterisk next to that?

I'm still confused. What was the point of having Larkin try to break Gartner's record? Is that a new thing they're going to do from now on? Did the East even get an extra point for that? Kind of strange. And I still can't believe the winning side gets to pick when they want to play tomorrow. Of course they'd rather play first. Otherwise, they'd have to play back to back. What else was Jagr (or anybody else) going to pick?

They should replace Tayes and Ovechkin with two more enforcers. Would make the ASG more fun and give Scott a chance to fight somebody. -

Doubt it. Calgary was a stacked team and would have made the Finals every year if not for the Oilers. That 1989 team had scoring, size, skill and a terrific defense.

That lineup is incredible. Makarov is the best player not in the HHOF. Probably the best winger of his generation. That 3rd line on paper is the fastest in hockey history. However, those guys were still way before their primes. I think this roster could give any NHL team fits back then. Not sure if they'd be gritty enough to win a 7 game series against Calgary, though.

True. That was the manliest I felt as a Wings fan for about 10 years. If by "it" you mean some stupid team is going to claim him, then I doubt it. He was decent in the 2013 playoffs but has done nothing since. A guy that any team could easily pull out of their minors.
