There's not a lot of guys in the league last year that hit 30 goals. Oversized pads and well trained goalies have made each of these goal marks harder to reach.

Would it be possible to add Holland and Yzerman to that trade? I mean a straight swap of GM's? Then I might be inclined to agree. Yzerman has fleeced that idiot before with the Quincey trade. If Stamkos doesn't commit to Detroit, there's no reason to make this trade.

I don't think the Wings are a team that free agents want to join. I don't think players are dying to be traded to Detroit either. That's in the past. We're a mediocre team and have a reputation for underpaying players in the free agent market. Our best players are past their primes. We're better off than Toronto and are not a sinking ship, but the rest of the bolded part of your quote can easily apply to the Wings. BTW, I don't think Toronto's ship is sinking either. It's already sunk. Can't get any worse. Even Buffalo has some hope for the future.

That trade would make no sense, unless Babcock wants to be reunited with Joakim Andersson.
