We haven't drafted a Datsyuk or Zetterberg type player in 15 years. Those were diamonds in the rough but that was a while back. And please don't compare Nyquist or Tatar to them until they become elite, top 10 caliber players. I'm curious who the "bunch of Zetterberg and Datsyuk type players" you refer to are.

Jets re-sign Anthony Peluso for only 675.000 AAV (2 years)

Andersson doesn't do anything all that well. I would trade him straight up for Peluso with no additional compensation.

    Free agents this off season

He had similar numbers to Zetterberg this season, even though he's older and had a serious issues with his management. He's still a great passer.

So you're saying he does one thing more than Andersson can do? And as I said, he was a scratch because they have other guys that can play that role. They're not lacking in that department.

Well, what do they know? Besides, they have other guys like him, so he doesn't bring any element they can't get elsewhere. Teams like the Jets or Flames have lots of toughness, but they're overdoing it in today's league.

People have said this stuff for years around here. I'm still waiting for their mini-dynasty to fall apart. It's still not happened. Except we don't have a Tayes, Kane or Keith type prospect in our system. As others here always point out, we don't draft high enough for that. We're a long way away from contending, even though we almost beat Tampa in the first round and almost beat Chicago a few years ago. I almost scored with a hot blonde once who was out of my league. Does that mean I will score with many hot blondes out of my league in the future?

Did I say he should play 20 minutes a night? I'd give him 8 or 9 minutes on a 4th line, let him hit people and fire up the team and crowd, be hard to play against physically. That's all.

Maybe we can use a guy like Peluso better than they could, and actually make it out of the first round ourselves. Andersson would ride the bench too if we didn't have a coach who was obsessed with untalented jobbers riding his 4th line and playing big minutes in playoff games. I hope Blashill kills this trend.

So, he's cheaper, and does two things well. Andersson is more expensive and does zero things well. I don't need my 4th liners scoring points. I want my top two lines scoring points. I've won the Stanley Cup in every hockey video game I ever owned, and all those teams had a goon on the 4th line that didn't score a lot. In fact, on NHL 2000, I had a season with the Wings where I traded for Scott Parker on my 4th line and he put up over 500PIM and didn't score 5 goals. I had another one with Twist ....................well, you get the idea.

I wouldn't mind having him on our team for that kind of money. Better than a milksop like Andersson.

If only Kyle Wellwood was still on the team at that time. Too lazy to find "that" famous picture.

Too many to choose from, sadly. Nobody who can duplicate his face, though. I'd be more glad to see Benedict Arnold honored at Arlington Cemetery.

    Man Games Lost

I found an interesting website that studies man games lost and overall impact on team. Not sure I entirely understand it yet, but found it informative. Anybody else know this website? I've attached the link below. This shows the total man games lost since 2009-2010. http://www.mangameslost.com/the-most-injured-nhl-teams-since-the-2009-2010-season/ It appears the teams that have won the Cup since that time were the teams with the fewest injuries.

See my thread on the front page about man games lost. The Pens should get a pass for that, as they have been more affected than any team since 2010 with injuries to key players. The Hawks have been the least affected.

    Man Games Lost

I didn't even notice, but the first post in this thread had a link which has since been updated (because Tampa is designated as having made the Finals). But that shows the Cup winners since 2010 as all having been the healthiest teams. It's also fair to say that Chicago is juicing. All these playoff games played over the years and they're always healthy. I wonder if this also excuses the Pens somewhat. They're dead last in man games lost since 2010.

    Man Games Lost

Bump. Chicago and Tampa were two of the healthiest teams this season. Once again, the healthiest teams are Cup contenders late in the season. http://www.mangameslost.com/end-of-regular-season-nhl-man-games-lost-and-tmitt-metrics-april-16-2015/

That's right. That "Core" thread that was like 50 pages long was nothing but LGW members making fun of the Hawks fans who suggested their core would carry them, despite all the role players they lost in the 2010 offseason. They've won two more Cups since that thread.
