No. Officiating sucks equally in all three sports (don't watch baseball enough to know or care). Every time I'm ready to proclaim NHL referees the worst, I think of NBA and NFL referees and retract the thought. Same thing with the other two sports. Referees are like players. They're human and will make stupid mistakes. What sports really need is to get rid of refs and replace them with computers that never make any mistakes. But that's obviously not happening right now, so we're stuck with what we have. If Mrazek is better, than he should start. This franchise doesn't owe Howard anything. It's the same franchise that benched better goalies like Hasek, Joseph and Osgood at some point in their careers.

Story of the game is that their goalie was very good and ours was average. The shooters for the Wings were poor, aside from that Nyquist shot. Of course that one play at the end sticks out and cost us at least a point, but there's more than just one play that lost the game. Too many stupid turnovers too. Ruined a game where we otherwise controlled the play. He can, he just can't do it as well as the opposing goalie on most nights.

As I predicted, we'll have a great season this year. Take that haters!!

Coaching has nothing to do with it. People always blamed Renney for the powerplay, but this team just doesn't frankly have the talent. No coach could make Helm and Quincey into powerplay specialists. One injury to a Datsyuk or a Zetterberg, and we're severely undermanned.

You mean having untalented defensemen and Helm on the powerplay won't result in goals?

I think the Wings are very easy to play against physically. The big guys aren't known for their hitting. Franzen is big and skilled, but doesn't really battle for pucks. Team speed is supposed to be our real strength, but that didn't really work for us when playing against a team like Boston.

But all those teams are a lot better than us with a much deeper offensive pool So whatever they're doing, they're doing it right. Abby in the top 6 is a perfect indication of why this team has fallen from contender status. Guy works hard on every shift, but it's like putting lipstick on a pig. It shouldn't be there and he shouldn't be getting big minutes with skilled players.

Not sure. I was like 11 then. Would make sense, since the Wings got embarrassed in the Finals and were likely willing to explore options to put themselves over the edge. They might have figured Fedorov was the future of the franchise and was ready to take over for Yzerman. Yashin would have been a lot younger than Yzerman and was another Russian. Like I said, I don't remember, but I can see the thinking there at the time.

Yashin didn't become popular until the late 90's, so I don't know why there were trade talks. By that point, the Wings were winning Cups.

This team makes no changes in the offseason and expects people to be excited. Unless you won the Cup the year before, every team should do something to mix things up a little or give fans a new player or two to watch and root for.

I don't think our 4th has a combo of different player types. Not really.

Cleary making the roster should make him an automatic front runner for the Masterton Trophy.

But is he a player who's tough to play against in a playoff series? Does he wear other teams down? I say no to both questions. Not saying Barch is tough to play against in the playoffs, but Miller is not my ideal 4th liner. I think a 4th liner should be a rugged, larger forward who wears defenders down in the corner. Miller is essentially a 6'2 toothpick with limited offensive skills, so he gets put on the 4th line.

Very upset that Holland's big offseason move (Kevin Porter) didn't make the team.

Our PK couldn't kill a flee in last year's playoffs. We have plenty of forwards that can kill penalties.

I guess Callahan can hang out with Jamie Tardif. Holland sure loves those checking forwards. LOL at signing a McGrattan. We can't even keep a Callahan on this squad.
