I'm not saying Columbus will be better then us for the next 5 years, but they're at least sending a message that they want to win. They have a young, hungry GM trying to prove himself. Too early to call these moves or him a disappointment. Many Wings fans are fed up with Holland and his ennui towards his job. He's basically admitting that we're not all that good. Much of it is his fault. Columbus has something to "potentially" look forward to, while we're looking forward to either missing the playoffs or getting bounced in the first round. Not to mention, what may happen with Datsyuk in the near future. It sucks.

Doesn't matter. Point is, they had the balls and initiative to make the move. Took a chance. Columbus of all teams. Their fans (if they have any) are excited right now, while ours are pissed. The ones not pissed are pointing at the banners and talking about past successes. I want this franchise to remain great and relevant, not be one that used to be relevant, like Montreal and Chicago all those recent years.

Name me the last team similar to the 2013 Red Wings in style of play and talent, that won the Stanley Cup? I challenge anyone here to answer this post. I'm tired of the anything can happen bulls***.

Yeah, it seems like Holland has built in excuses now to fail. Some of them are legit excuses, but if he thinks the situation is so hopeless every deadline/offseason, maybe he should step down. It looks like he can't handle being a GM in today's NHL, where there's a salary cap and parity, and players don't flock to Detroit like they used to. He always says the price is too high, but that's what prices are like now. It's the current market price. He says that and yet signs Sammy and Coca-Cola for contracts they don't deserve, and trades a first for an average player like Quincey.

If Holland doesn't make a move tomorrow, he should part ways with the team in the offseason.

I wonder if Mike Ilitch even knows there's a trade deadline tomorrow? Or is he too busy blushing at the Tigers?

This trade should be investigated by the NHL. Smells too fishy. It's the kind of trade some AI GM in a video game offers you, and you fall all over it.

But he should be cheap because of that.

Kindl has a good plus/minus and scores way more points. Smith does nothing. He's somewhat physical, but only compared to our other guys. That's not saying much. Occasionally he fights and makes me feel funny inside. I'd keep Kindl so far.

Where do they find these yokels? Can any Flames fan even name these prospects they've obtained from the Blues and Penguins?

We should trade this entire defense to the Flames for the prospects they acquired from St Louis and Pittsburgh.
